TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus that forms an image by superimposing a toner image developed for each photoconductor arranged in parallel in a transfer material transport direction on a transfer material transported by a transfer material transport belt. In addition, the present invention relates to measures for realizing high-quality multiple transfer by suppressing transport pitch unevenness.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, in order to reduce the size of a color type image forming apparatus and improve the image processing speed, it is possible to form an image in a single paper transport process using a plurality of photoconductors corresponding to the number of hues. An image forming apparatus using a tandem method has been widely developed.
[0003]
In such a tandem type image forming apparatus, a plurality of photoconductors that form a toner image are arranged in parallel in a transfer material transport direction, and the transfer material on which an image is formed is transported by an endless transfer material transport belt. By transferring a plurality of transfer rollers arranged in parallel so as to correspond to the respective photoconductors to the photoconductors via the transfer material conveyance belt, the toner image developed for each photoconductor is transferred to the transfer material. A color image is formed by superimposing on a transfer material conveyed by a belt (for example, see Patent Document 1).
[0004]
[Patent Document 1]
JP-A-9-319179
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, the transfer material conveyed on the transfer material conveyance belt is individually restrained between each photoconductor and each transfer means, and when the leading end reaches the fixing means, the fixing means presses the transfer material from both sides in the front and back directions. Thus, the conveying force of the fixing unit is added. In this case, for the transfer material conveyed from the upstream side to the downstream side on the transfer belt, the restraining force between each photoconductor and each transfer unit becomes smaller as the transfer material is conveyed. This is because, as the transfer material is conveyed, each time the trailing end passes through the photosensitive member and the transfer means in order from the upstream side in the transfer material conveyance direction, the binding force between the two ends.
[0006]
Therefore, when the binding force between the photoconductor and the transfer unit decreases as the transfer material is conveyed, the conveyance force of the fixing unit gradually becomes dominant, and every time the rear end passes between the photoconductor and the transfer unit, The transfer speed of the transfer material gradually increases, or the tension of the transfer material changes. In this case, as shown in FIG. 12, the shift amount of the downstream transfer section (second to fourth transfer section) with respect to the most upstream transfer section (first transfer section) increases as going to the downstream side. In other words, the position at which the toner is transferred to the rear end of the transfer material is shifted downstream in the transfer material transport direction, and the image is significantly deteriorated due to distortion of the image or uneven density. This phenomenon is more conspicuous as the transfer material is thicker. In particular, when a color image is formed, a slight positional shift causes a color shift, which leads to a significant reduction in image quality.
[0007]
The present invention has been made in view of such a point, and an object of the present invention is to increase the amount of transfer material generated when the constraint on the rear end of the transfer material between the photosensitive member and the transfer means is released. An object of the present invention is to provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing a transfer position from being shifted due to a tendency in speed or a change in tension.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, in the present invention, a plurality of photoconductors that are arranged in parallel in a transfer material transport direction and form a toner image, and an endless transfer material transport belt that transports a transfer material on which an image is formed, A plurality of transfer means arranged in parallel to correspond to the respective photoconductors and in contact with the photoconductor via the transfer material conveyance belt; and A first roller and a second roller that bridge the upstream and downstream ends of a material transport belt; and a plurality of photoconductors that are arranged from an upstream side to a downstream side in a transport direction of a transfer material during image formation. It is assumed that an image forming apparatus performs image formation with a plurality of photoconductors by superimposing a toner image developed for each body on a transfer material conveyed by a transfer material conveyance belt. A transfer state detecting means for detecting a transfer state of a rear end of the transfer material on the transfer material transfer belt; and a transfer state detecting means provided downstream of the transfer material transfer belt in the transfer material transfer direction. And a control unit for controlling the transfer speed of the transfer material by the fixing unit based on the transfer state of the rear end of the transfer material from the transfer state detection unit.
[0009]
According to this specific matter, the transfer material conveyance speed by the fixing unit is controlled based on the conveyance state of the rear end of the transfer material conveyed on the transfer material conveyance belt. When the transfer force by the fixing unit is controlled to be reduced when the transfer force by the fixing unit becomes dominant when the restraining force between them becomes small and the transfer force by the fixing unit becomes dominant, the rear end between the photosensitive member and the transfer unit is controlled. The transport speed of the transfer material does not tend to slightly increase every time the sheet passes, and a change in the tension of the transfer material is prevented. Therefore, the position where the toner is transferred to the rear end of the transfer material is prevented from shifting to the downstream side in the transfer material transport direction. It is possible to do. Further, even when a color image is formed, a minute positional deviation is prevented, and it is possible to provide a good image quality without a color deviation.
[0010]
Here, based on the paper type information from the paper type information detecting means and the progress of the rear end of the transfer material from the progress detecting means, the transfer speed of the transfer material by the fixing means is gradually reduced from the reference speed by the control means. In such a case, as the transfer material is conveyed, it passes between the photosensitive member on the upstream side and the transfer means as the transfer material is conveyed, the binding force gradually decreases, and the conveyance force by the fixing means gradually becomes dominant. It is possible to cope with the fluctuation of the transfer speed of the transfer material at the time of, and the position where the toner is transferred to the rear end of the transfer material is effectively prevented from shifting to the downstream side in the transfer material transfer direction, and the image It is possible to sufficiently suppress the deterioration of the image due to the occurrence of the distortion, the density, and the like, and to perform the good image formation.
[0011]
In particular, the following configurations are listed as those that can increase the image forming speed.
[0012]
That is, the image forming apparatus further includes a most downstream position detecting unit that detects that the rear end of the transfer material has passed through the most downstream transferring unit. The transfer speed of the transfer material is controlled to return to the reference speed.
[0013]
According to this specific matter, when the rear end of the transfer material passes through the transfer device at the most downstream position, load fluctuation and pitch unevenness on the transfer material due to the restraining force between the photosensitive member and the transfer device do not occur. The transfer material is transported in a short time by increasing the transport speed of the material and returning to the reference speed, so that the image forming time can be reduced and the image forming efficiency can be improved.
[0014]
In particular, the following configuration is specifically shown as a change of the transfer material transport speed by the fixing unit.
[0015]
That is, by changing the number of pulses given to the pulse motor for driving the fixing means by the control means, the transfer speed of the transfer material by the fixing means is changed.
[0016]
According to this specific matter, it is possible to easily change the transfer material conveying speed by the fixing device only by changing the control cycle (control pulse) of the pulse motor serving as the driving source of the fixing unit.
[0017]
In particular, the following configuration is given as an example in which the control target is widened according to the binding force that changes as the transfer material is transported.
[0018]
That is, at least one of the temperature of the heating roller of the fixing unit and the pressing force of the pressing roller according to the binding force at the rear end of the transfer material that changes each time the sheet passes between each photoconductor and each transfer unit. Is controlled by the control means.
[0019]
By adjusting the heating temperature and pressing force of the fixing unit, as well as the transfer speed applied to the transfer material by the fixing unit, the proper fixing of various fixing materials such as thick paper and envelopes can be achieved. The conditions can be ensured, and the discharge property of the transfer material from the fixing unit can be improved.
[0020]
In particular, the following configurations are listed as those that can achieve the transportability and the fixability according to the type of the transfer material.
[0021]
That is, when the rear end portion of the transfer material passes between the photosensitive member and the transfer means on the downstream side in the transport direction, the reduction width of the transfer material transport speed by the fixing means is changed according to the paper type or paper thickness. Is controlled as follows.
[0022]
With this specific matter, it is possible to suppress the occurrence of transfer deviation of envelope paper and thick paper when handling envelope paper and thick paper that are likely to cause transfer deviation due to the influence of speed fluctuation when passing through the transfer unit. It becomes possible. Also, the heating temperature (fixing temperature) of the fixing unit is increased or decreased depending on the paper type, and the transfer speed of the transfer material is changed, thereby increasing or decreasing the amount of heat added to the transfer material. The increase / decrease change amount is suppressed. At this time, if the fixing temperature is increased too much, other components are affected, so that heating can be performed only to a certain temperature range. However, by changing the transfer speed of the transfer material, the fixing temperature is not increased so much. Good fixing properties can be ensured. Therefore, it is possible to achieve both transportability and fixability for a wide range of transfer materials.
[0023]
On the other hand, even when the reduction width of the transfer material conveyance speed by the fixing unit is controlled to be larger on the envelope paper or the thick paper than on the plain paper or the thin paper, even when the paper passes through the transfer means. It is possible to suppress the occurrence of the transfer deviation when handling envelope paper or thick paper that is likely to cause the transfer deviation due to the influence of the speed fluctuation of the transfer material. In addition, if the amount of increase in the fixing temperature of the fixing unit due to the paper type is suppressed and the conveying speed of the transfer material by the fixing unit is changed to a low speed side, the amount of heat added to the transfer material increases, resulting in the fixing. The same effect as increasing the temperature is obtained. At this time, if the fixing temperature is increased too much, other components are affected, so that the heating can be performed only up to a certain temperature range. However, by changing the transfer speed of the transfer material to a lower speed side, the fixing temperature is increased. It is possible to secure good fixing properties without any problem. Therefore, it is possible to achieve both transportability and fixability for a wide range of transfer materials.

<Other embodiments>
Note that the present invention is not limited to the above embodiments, and includes various other modifications. For example, in each of the above embodiments, each time the rear end of the transfer medium P approaches just before the first to fourth transfer units, the CPU 9 controls the transport speed of the transfer medium P by the fixing

Further, when the rear end portion of the transfer medium passes between the photosensitive drum and the transfer roller on the downstream side in the conveyance direction, the deceleration width of the transfer speed of the transfer medium by the fixing device according to the paper type or the paper thickness. It may be controlled by the CPU so as to change it. In this case, when handling envelope paper or thick paper that is likely to cause transfer misalignment due to the influence of speed fluctuation when passing through the transfer section, it is possible to suppress the occurrence of transfer misalignment of envelope paper or thick paper. it can. Further, the heating temperature of the fixing device (fixing temperature) is changed depending on the type of paper, and the transfer speed of the transfer medium is changed, thereby increasing or decreasing the amount of heat added to the transfer medium. As a result, the amount of increase / decrease is suppressed, so that good fixing performance can be ensured without increasing the fixing temperature so much, and both transportability and fixing performance can be achieved for a wide range of transfer media.
[0066]
Further, the CPU may control the deceleration width of the transfer material transport speed by the fixing unit so that envelope paper or thick paper is larger than plain paper or thin paper. In this case, it is possible to suppress the occurrence of transfer misalignment when handling envelope paper or thick paper that is likely to cause transfer misalignment due to the influence of the speed fluctuation of the transfer medium when passing through the transfer section. Also, if the amount of increase in the fixing temperature of the fixing device due to the type of paper is suppressed, and the conveying speed of the transfer material by the fixing unit is changed to a lower speed, the amount of heat added to the transfer medium increases, resulting in the fixing. The same effect as increasing the temperature can be obtained, and by changing the transfer speed of the transfer medium to a lower speed side, it is possible to secure good fixing properties without increasing the fixing temperature, and for a wide range of transfer materials. Thus, both transportability and fixability can be achieved.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, the photoconductor is controlled by reducing the transfer material conveyance speed by the fixing unit based on the conveyance state of the rear end of the transfer material conveyed on the transfer material conveyance belt. The transfer material transport direction of the toner transfer position with respect to the transfer material rear end is prevented while increasing the transfer material transport speed every time the rear end passes between the transfer material and the transfer unit, and preventing the transfer material tension change. Prevents displacement to the downstream side, suppresses image distortion and remarkable deterioration of the image due to the occurrence of unevenness, and enables good image formation.Prevents minute positional deviation in color image formation. As a result, it is possible to provide good image quality without color shift.
