本発明は、空気調和機に関するものである。空気調和機とは、周辺空気の温度、湿度、汚染度などのパラメータに作用を与える装置全般をいう。たとえば、いわゆる空気清浄機も空気調和機の一種である。

空気調和機の一例として空気清浄機について説明する。空気清浄機には、電気集塵フィルタを用いた「電気集塵式」と、HEPA(High Efficiency Particulate Air)フィルタなどを用いたいわゆる「フィルタ式」とがある。主に店舗、オフィス、病院などの大きな空間における使用を想定された業務用の空気清浄機には、従来、電気集塵式が採用されていたが、電気集塵式の場合、電気集塵フィルタに汚れが付着した場合のメンテナンスに多大な労力を要する。

上述したような空気清浄機を業務用として、飲食店、オフィス、病院などで使用することを考えた場合、その場に設置した状態のままで、単にフィルタの交換にとどまらず各部分のメンテナンスをも行なえる必要がある。すなわち、フィルタ以外の部分、たとえば、ファンガード、ファン、モータなどのメンテナンスも簡単に行なえる必要がある。飲食店などの中に設置した状態でこれらの部品を取り出すには、周囲に必ずしも十分な作業スペースが確保されているわけではなく、また、メンテナンス作業時に周囲の活動を妨げないように行なうことが求められる場合もあるため、大掛かりな分解をすることは困難である。
