Abstract
Description
【0001】
x=cosω1t+cosω2t
a2+a2cos(ω1−ω2)t (DC成分)
+(a1+9/4・a3)cosω1t+(a1+9/4・a3)cosω2t (信号成分)
+3/4・a3cos(2ω1−ω2)t+3/4・a3cos(2ω2−ω1)t(3次相互変調成分)

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a feedforward amplifier, and more particularly, to a feedforward amplifier having a feedforward distortion compensation loop.
[0002]
[Prior art]
For example, when two waves represented by the following equation are input to the feedforward amplifier,
x = cosω1t + cosω2t
The output includes a DC component, a signal component, a third-order intermodulation component, a second harmonic component, and a third harmonic component.
[0003]
More specifically,
a2 + a2cos (ω1-ω2) t (DC component)
+ (A1 + 9/4 · a3) cosω1t + (a1 + 9/4 · a3) cosω2t (signal component)
+ 3/4 · a3cos (2ω1−ω2) t + 3/4 · a3cos (2ω2−ω1) t (third-order intermodulation component)
+ 1/2 · a2cos2ω1t + a2cos (ω1 + ω2) t + 1/2 · a2cos2ω2t (second harmonic component)
+ / · A3cos3ω1t + 3/4 · a3cos (2ω1 + ω2) t
+ 3/4 · a3cos (2ω2 + ω1) t + / · a3cos3ω2t
(Third harmonic component)
As described above, a distortion component due to the non-linearity of the amplifier other than the signal component is added and output.
[0004]
Since these distortion components become noise (noise) for communication, distortion compensation is required to reduce the noise.
[0005]
As one method of reducing the distortion component, a feedforward distortion compensation method is known.
[0006]
As one of the techniques of this feedforward distortion compensation method, in order to reduce the amount of distortion to be improved in feedforward distortion compensation and improve power supply efficiency, a pre-distortion method is applied to a main amplifier (main amplifier) that generates distortion. Various methods for compensating for the distortion have been proposed (see JP-A-2001-68945, JP-B-7-85523, JP-A-1-200807, etc.).
[0007]
The operation principle of the conventional predistortion type distortion compensation will be described below with reference to FIGS.
[0008]
FIG. 3 is a block diagram showing a schematic configuration of a conventional predistortion type feedforward amplifier. FIG. 4 is an explanatory diagram of signal components in each section of the feedforward amplifier of FIG.

[0023]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the above-described conventional feedforward amplifier, distortion is improved as feedforward distortion compensation. However, the amount of distortion improvement is not infinite due to factors such as an amplitude error and a phase error.
[0024]
By the way, according to the above-mentioned conventional feedforward amplifier, when the operating condition of the predistortion circuit is changed after setting the operating condition of the distortion detection loop to the optimum value, the operating condition of the distortion detecting loop deviates from the optimum value. It will be. For this reason, there is a problem that the operating conditions of the entire distortion detection loop must be changed again, and the adjustment time increases.
[0025]
More specifically, since the pre-distortion circuit in the conventional amplifier is in a feed-forward distortion compensation loop, if the pre-distortion circuit needs to be adjusted, the characteristic of the distortion detection loop should be equal amplitude, etc. This is because the delay amount and the opposite phase must be adjusted again using a delay line circuit or a vector adjuster.
[0026]
In addition, since the distortion level to be improved is generated in the main amplifier, the signal level is high, and in order to generate a distortion signal having a signal equivalent thereto by the pre-distortion circuit, the pre-distortion circuit is required. There is a problem that a large size and a high output are required, and the size and complexity of the predistortion circuit are increased. In other words, there is a problem in that the level of distortion that can be generated in the predistortion circuit is low, and sufficient distortion cannot be improved.
[0027]
In view of the above, the present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems in the related art, and it is possible to improve the remaining nonlinear distortion by feedforward distortion compensation, and to adjust and configure the predistortion circuit. It is an object of the present invention to provide a feedforward amplifier that can easily perform a change or the like and can reduce the size of a predistortion circuit.
[0028]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
To achieve the above object, a feedforward amplifier according to the present invention has a feedforward distortion compensation loop, and a feedforward amplifier that amplifies a signal input from an input terminal is outside the feedforward distortion compensation loop. A predistortion compensation circuit is provided between the feedforward distortion compensation loop and the input terminal.
[0029]
According to the above configuration, since the predistortion compensation circuit operates outside the feedforward distortion compensation loop to perform distortion compensation, it is possible to improve the remaining nonlinear distortion due to the feedforward distortion compensation.
[0030]
Further, a feedforward amplifier having a feedforward distortion compensation loop, which amplifies a signal input from an input terminal, includes an amplification unit that amplifies a compensation input signal and outputs the amplified input signal as an amplified output signal, and an input to the amplification unit. A distortion detection unit that detects a distortion component added to the signal by the amplification unit, a distortion removal unit that removes the detected distortion component from the amplified output signal, and a distortion detection unit that is provided between an input terminal and the distortion detection unit. And a predistortion compensator for adding a distortion compensation component for compensating the distortion component to an input signal input from the input terminal to generate the compensation input signal.
[0031]
According to the above configuration, the distortion detection unit detects a distortion component added to the input signal to the amplification unit by the amplification unit.
[0032]
On the other hand, the predistortion compensator generates a compensation input signal by adding a distortion compensation component for compensating the distortion component to the input signal input from the input terminal.
[0033]
Thus, the amplifier amplifies the compensated input signal and outputs the amplified signal as an amplified output signal to the distortion remover, and the distortion remover removes the detected distortion component from the amplified output signal.
[0034]
In these cases, the predistortion compensation circuit may mainly compensate for the amplitude distortion component. Further, the predistortion compensation circuit may mainly compensate for a phase distortion component.

As described above, in the conventional feedforward amplifier, since the pre-distortion circuit is provided in the distortion detection loop, when changing the distortion improvement amount by the pre-distortion distortion compensation or the like, if the component is changed, According to the present invention, the phase characteristics, the amplitude characteristics, the characteristics such as the group delay, and the like change, so that the characteristics in the distortion detection loop must be adjusted again. Since the pre-distortion circuit is located outside the distortion detection loop and can be added or changed even after the main components such as the main amplifier are determined, the pre-distortion circuit is not affected by the amplification stage. Optimal operation conditions of the distortion circuit can be easily set.
[0051]
Conventionally, the level of the distortion component generated in the main amplifier is extremely high, and in order to generate a signal including a distortion compensation component having a signal level equivalent to the distortion component in the pre-distortion circuit, a pre-distortion circuit is required. Although it is necessary to increase the size, according to the present invention, for the distortion improved by the feedforward distortion compensation, the distortion is further compensated by a pre-distortion circuit. The size of the predistortion circuit can be reduced.
[0052]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to provide a feedforward amplifier that can easily adjust a predistortion circuit, change a configuration, and the like, and can reduce the size of a predistortion circuit. it can.
