Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an ink jet printer, and more particularly, to a surface treatment for improving the corrosion resistance of a liquid contact member such as an inner wall of an ink jet ink jet head or an inner wall of a liquid supply / discharge pipe, thereby enabling a longer life.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Inkjet printers are growing rapidly for consumer use. Once accepted by such a large number of users, a search begins for various possibilities to exploit the potential of a microdroplet dispenser, not just a printer instead of a pencil. As one of the uses, there is a need to spray a highly corrosive liquid. However, it has been found that the conventional inkjet head has a problem in corrosion resistance.
[0003]
As a countermeasure, an inkjet head in which the liquid contact member is made of stainless steel has been proposed so that even a highly corrosive liquid can be ejected. Corrosion due to battery formation or corrosion due to reduction of stainless protective film mainly composed of oxide in non-oxidizing atmosphere (in a state of being immersed in a solution containing no oxygen atom such as HCl solution). Is concerned.
[0004]
Thus, for example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 08-80610 discusses a method of coating an organic film as a protective film in order to impart corrosion resistance to a liquid contact portion of an ink jet head.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
It is possible to obtain a certain effect even in the above-mentioned conventional technology. However, when coating the liquid-contacting part of the inkjet head with an organic film, there is anxiety about "pinhole generation" or "film peeling" inherent in thin film formation, and further measures must be taken to ensure further reliability. Is needed.
[0006]
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide an inner surface treatment for improving the corrosion resistance of a liquid contact portion of an inkjet head. It is another object of the present invention to provide an inexpensive and highly durable inner surface treatment method without peeling of a pinhole film.

The invention according to claim 3 of the present invention is characterized in that a diffusion layer in which constituent elements are diffused is formed in the CrNx compound layer.

In the invention according to claim 5 of the present invention, the CrNx compound phase is selected from a single gas or a mixed gas selected from nitrogen and ammonia as a reaction gas and an inert gas such as argon and hydrogen as a carrier gas. It is formed by performing a treatment at 500 to 650 ° C. in an atmosphere composed of a single gas or a mixed gas.

The invention according to
[0014]
The invention according to claim 8 of the present invention comprises a step of forming a CrNx compound layer only on a surface to be in contact with a liquid after forming a protective film on a non-treated surface of a metal thin film constituting an ink jet head, and removing the protective film. And a step of performing
[0015]
When stainless steel is used as the material, the passive film exhibiting corrosion resistance is made of chromium oxide. This film is extremely stable in an oxidizing atmosphere but not always stable in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, often causing corrosion problems. As a countermeasure, a chromium nitride (hereinafter abbreviated as CrN as a generic term) more stable than an oxide has been proposed as a protective film. The compound does not grow at room temperature unlike ordinary oxides (for example, chromium oxide, which is a passive film that naturally grows on the surface of stainless steel at room temperature). Therefore, generally, a sputtering method or a plating method in which Cr is sputtered in a nitrogen atmosphere to form a CrN film is used. However, these methods are liable to be accompanied by defects such as generation of pinholes in the film or peeling of the film from the substrate, and are not reliable as the formation method according to the present invention. As a method for solving these drawbacks, a method has been proposed in which an inner wall constituent element is reacted with a gas to form a corrosion resistant reactant. With this treatment method, there is no need to add a new foreign material to the existing inner wall material, so film peeling does not occur and the concentration gradient between the base material and the coat layer prevents sudden changes in mechanical properties, and adhesion The performance is improved. In addition, since the reaction is performed with the gas, a dense reactant can be uniformly grown, so that growth defects (pinholes) associated with film growth are eliminated.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.

[0018]
Although stainless steel is used in the above example, the effect of the present invention can be expected as long as the metal contains chrome.
[0019]
Hereinafter, the inner surface processing method of the present invention will be described.
[0020]
First, the
[0021]
After cutting the cross section of the inkjet head formed by the above method, the distribution state of nitrogen was measured by Auger analysis. The result is shown in FIG.
[0022]
As can be seen from FIG. 2, when this treatment method is used, the reaction product is gradually reduced in the thickness direction of the inner wall. This means that there is no boundary between the reaction product and the substrate, which has the advantage that the reactive product and the substrate are firmly connected to each other and that no film peeling occurs.
[0023]
Further, it can be seen from FIG. 2 that when the processing temperature is 450 ° C., the concentration of nitride generated on the surface is small and the effect is insufficient. On the other hand, if the processing temperature is 500 ° C. or higher, the effect can be obtained. However, if the processing temperature is 700 ° C. or higher, there is a problem that the inkjet head is deformed after the processing. This is because the material of the ink jet head is deformed due to thermal strain. Therefore, it was found that the processing temperature was appropriately 650 ° C. or less.
[0024]
Incidentally, to analyze the chromium nitride by X-ray diffractometry, the structure it was confirmed that the growing crystal grains of CrN and CrN 2. Although nitrogen is used as the reaction gas in the present invention, similar results can be obtained by using an argon gas + 10% ammonia gas mixed gas using an argon gas as a carrier gas, and further using a mixed gas added with 10% hydrogen gas. was gotten.
[0025]
Subsequently, the composition and a strong acid (1 N aqueous solution of sulfuric acid, 25 ° C.) of CrN x formed by the inner surface processing method of the present invention proceeded corrosion test when immersed in. The results are shown in FIG. The corrosion rate was standardized as 1 for the case of untreated stainless steel (SUS316L). As can be seen from FIG. 3, the corrosion resistance is exhibited while the reaction layer is formed. At x = 0.2 or more, the corrosion resistance is at a level that causes no practical problem.
[0026]
Note that there are many possible processing conditions for obtaining the numerical value (0.2), but in the following examples, 550 ° C. and 60 min are set as typical conditions.
[0027]
Next, we proceeded corrosion test when immersed in film thickness and room temperature strong acid resulting CrN x (1 aqueous 1N sulfuric acid solution). FIG. 4 shows the results. The corrosion rate was standardized as 1 for the case of untreated stainless steel (SUS316L). As can be seen from FIG. 4, the corrosion resistance is shown as the reaction layer becomes thicker. In this embodiment, the pipe (pipe) 10 forming the ink flow path and the inner wall and the outer wall of the connection joint 9 are treated in the same manner as in the second embodiment, but the ink jet head shown in FIG. After cutting these inkjet heads in section, the distribution of nitrogen was measured by Auger analysis. The result was the same as that of the case of the treatment at 550 ° C. for 60 minutes in Example 1.

【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, on the inner wall of the narrow flow passage of several tens of μm, the constituent elements of the inner wall react with the gas to form a corrosion-resistant reactant. Abrupt changes in mechanical properties can be prevented, and adhesion is improved. Further, since the reaction is carried out by gas, a dense reactant can be grown uniformly, so that it is possible to provide a highly reliable corrosion-resistant inkjet head having no growth defects (pinholes) associated with plating or film growth.
