【0001】

【0056】
HD I/F228はHDD229を接続するためのI/Fである。

The setting of the user level will be described with reference to a flowchart. In the present embodiment, there are two levels that can be set by the user, and a case in which the user himself sets the user level from the operation panel will be described.
[0079]
The screen shown in FIG. 9 is an example of a screen common to user access for performing authentication when the user accesses the apparatus, and includes a part (911) for inputting a user ID registered in advance by the apparatus administrator, It is composed of a part (912) for specifying the level, a password input part (913) required for authentication, and an OK button (914) for requesting the device to authenticate.
[0080]
When using for the first time, it is necessary to input only the user ID and the password, and the low level (“L”) which is set in advance is already displayed in the user level portion. When the level is changed during the use of the device, the user ID of the accessing user is displayed. If the user ID is to be changed, select the user level and enter the password as necessary. It costs.
[0081]
FIG. 7 is a flowchart of the user level setting process, which will be described with reference to the drawing. Naturally, this flow is executed when the user ID or the like is input using the screen shown in FIG. 9 and the
[0082]
If the user level "H" has been designated in step S704, a further password is asked (S705). When the password is authenticated, "H" level setting can be registered. If the user information is authenticated at the “H” level, the available function is presented and a function instruction is input (S707), and the user information is updated (S708).
[0083]
FIG. 11 shows an example of displaying user level information while the user XXXXXX is accessing the apparatus. The registered contents can be displayed for each user as shown in the figure.
[0084]
FIG. 10 is a diagram showing an example of a screen when the user accesses the apparatus at the level “L” using the screen shown in FIG. 9, and confirms, sets, and registers the contents of the level “L”. This screen example shows that the scan and print functions and the function of transmitting the scanned image can be selected as the functions that can be performed at the level “L”, and the transmission function is currently set to the unusable state. It indicates that. As the document operation, a function of registering a document obtained by scanning and a function of changing a document name of an already registered document can be selected, and only registration is currently available. The resolution of the document to be registered and stored is fixed at 600 × 600 dpi, and the compression format is set to JPEG.
[0085]
FIG. 8 is a flowchart of a process in which a user registers a document in the device using the device. First, the user level information is read (S801), and it is determined whether the user is set to be able to use the scan function (S802). If the scanner is not available, the process ends. If the scanner is set to be usable, the set resolution and compression format information is read from the user level information (S803), and reading of the document is started based on the read information (S804). Then, the read data is compressed (S805), and the compressed data is recorded in a storage device inside the device (S806). Thereafter, the document attribute information shown in FIG. 6 is generated or input (S807), and the document management information is updated (S808), thereby completing the registration process of the document read by the scanner.
[0086]
FIG. 12 is a diagram illustrating an example of a screen of the operation panel displaying a list of user documents registered and stored in the apparatus. The currently accessed user level “L” is displayed at
[0087]
FIG. 11 shows a level confirmation screen when the apparatus is being accessed. In the upper part of the screen,
[0088]
In each of the above screen examples, the user access level is set at two levels, and the apparatus administrator can set an arbitrary level in advance and provide the user with the level. In the example of the first authentication screen (shown in FIG. 9) when the user uses the device, the level normally used is displayed in advance in the area indicated by reference numeral 912 (912).
[0089]
The above example shows the embodiment using the operation panel attached to the device. However, in a multifunction device connected to a network, since a plurality of users can use the device from the network, the network is It is easy to adopt a configuration in which user-level settings can be registered and used via the Internet. In this case, it is conceivable to provide a GUI equivalent to the operation panel from the host PC by using utility software on the host. Alternatively, a method of transferring the operation screen data via a network can be adopted.
[0090]
It is also possible to set or change the user access level using an HTTP service which is one of the network functions of the device.
[0091]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, in an image input / output device having a plurality of selectable image processing functions, the user can arbitrarily set the access level of each user for each user. This allows the user to access the image input / output device at the access level selected by the user. At this time, by limiting each function for each access level, the user can access the image input / output device during the low function level access. In this case, the user does not have an opportunity to perform an operation of erroneously deleting the stored data in the apparatus, and as a result, the stored data in the apparatus can be protected.
[0092]
In addition, by limiting the functions that can access the user-managed data, selection of a large number of functions is restricted, so that operability can be improved.
[0093]
In addition, even when the access level is changed during the operation, since the change can be made from an arbitrary access level, there is no need to perform the trouble of re-accessing the apparatus from the beginning.
[0094]
In addition, since the current access level is always displayed and the available functions can be displayed, registered users can know the functions that can be selected and use the current access level. You can know the available functions.
