Abstract
Description
【0001】
ODU(Out Door Unit)20とIDU(In Door Unit)10は、接続ケーブル30により接続される。

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a connection cable failure detection system and method for detecting an increase in insertion loss of a connection cable due to aging, poor connection work, or the like in a communication relay device connected by a cable, and outputting as a cable failure alarm.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, in a digital wireless device configured by connecting two devices, an outdoor unit (ODU) and an indoor unit (IDU), by a cable, an insertion loss caused by a connection cable on a connection cable output side is supplemented by an automatic gain control circuit. Was. If an abnormality occurs in the insertion loss, a warning is output as a cable failure.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the alarm detection point of the automatic gain control circuit that compensates for the insertion loss of the connecting cable was set at the maximum cable length. Could not be detected. In addition, when the cable length is calculated by detecting the insertion loss of one signal, an increase in loss due to a poor connection of the cable is determined as the cable length as it is, and an accurate length cannot be detected.
[0004]
Further, since the control is not performed by the alarm on the input side of the connection cable and the alarm of the output side device is activated even if the output of the input side device is abnormal, the device does not have a function of purely detecting the failure of the cable.
[0005]
For this reason, in the past, even if the cable connection was poor and insertion loss could not be detected even if it increased, there was no problem in the steady state, but if the cable was shaken due to mechanical shock, wind or rain, etc., the cable connection was broken and an alarm was activated Sometimes it was difficult to discover.
[0006]
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a connection cable failure detection system and method for constantly monitoring the insertion loss of a cable in a communication relay device connected by a cable with a value suitable for the cable length.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-described problem, the present invention includes first and second relay devices that are connected by a cable and relay communication, and the first relay device has a first relay device connected to the second relay device. And a circuit for transmitting a signal of a constant level at the frequency of, and a gain control for compensating for the insertion loss due to the cable with the signal of the second frequency received from the second repeater. And a circuit for generating a second insertion loss signal corresponding to the first repeater, wherein the second repeater transmits a signal of a constant level at a second frequency to the first repeater; And a circuit for performing gain control for compensating insertion loss due to the cable with respect to the signal of the first frequency received from the relay device, and generating a first insertion loss signal according to the gain control amount. , The first frequency and the second A memory storing the correspondence between the insertion loss difference in frequency and the cable length, and calculating the cable length based on one of the first and second insertion loss signals, and calculating the calculated cable length The insertion loss difference corresponding to the length is extracted from the memory. If the insertion loss difference does not match the insertion loss difference calculated based on the first insertion loss signal and the second insertion loss signal, it is determined that the cable is defective, and the alarm signal is issued. Output means.
[0008]
With the above configuration, the insertion loss of the cable can be monitored at a value suitable for the cable length.

[0018]
With reference to FIG. 2, the difference in the insertion loss depending on the frequency of the signal passing through the connection cable will be described. In FIG. 2, the horizontal axis represents the connection cable length, and the vertical axis represents the insertion loss. When the connection cable is 200 m, the insertion loss of the signal of the frequency ft is 30 dB. Similarly, the insertion loss of the signal of the frequency fr is 20 dB.
[0019]
Such a difference in the insertion loss depending on the frequency is determined by the type of the cable, and as long as the cable is of the same type, the difference in the insertion loss depending on the frequency is unique.
[0020]
The present invention pays attention to this point, and detects a cable failure by comparing the insertion loss difference between signals of different frequencies passing through the same connection cable with the inherent value of the cable itself.
[0021]
For example, when a connection failure loss of 10 dB occurs, since this value does not depend on the frequency, both frequencies increase by 10 dB. At this time, when the length is calculated from the insertion loss of one frequency, the length is determined to be 300 m even though the cable is 200 m, and the difference data at the time of 300 m is extracted from the

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, the cable length is calculated from the insertion loss of one frequency, and thereafter, the difference data with the insertion loss of a different frequency is compared with the inherent characteristic of the cable, whereby Judging whether the calculated length is correct or not can detect the insertion loss abnormality of the connection cable due to aging of the connection cable or poor connection work, etc., and output it as an alarm. Can be easily detected.
[0028]
Furthermore, by masking the cable failure alarm when another alarm occurs, it is possible to monitor the fluctuation of the insertion loss of the cable portion purely.
[0029]
Further, there is no need to generate a signal dedicated to detection, and the configuration of the apparatus is simple. The reason is that multiplexed signals of different frequencies transmitted through the cable are used, and the signal to be compared also uses an original signal such as an AGC control voltage.
