本発明は、呼気に含まれる一酸化炭素の濃度を測定する呼気検査装置に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
従来、禁煙を望む喫煙者に対して医療従事者により禁煙指導が行われているが、禁煙指導を行う場合には喫煙者の喫煙状況を客観的に把握する必要がある。

ところで、タバコの煙には多量の一酸化炭素が含まれており、肺に吸い込まれた一酸化炭素は血液中のヘモグロビンと結合して、カルボキシヘモグロビン(COHb)を生成し、COHb濃度が増加する。COHb濃度が増加すると、呼気に含まれる一酸化炭素濃度も増加するため、喫煙者の喫煙状況を客観的に評価する指標として呼気中の一酸化炭素濃度が用いられており、呼気中の一酸化炭素濃度を測定する呼気検査装置が従来より提供されている。

従来の呼気検査装置は、一酸化炭素を測定するために電気化学式のガスセンサを用い、ガスセンサに呼気を吹きかけた時のセンサ出力から、呼気に含まれる一酸化炭素の濃度を検出している。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところで、従来の呼気検査装置では、ガスセンサに吹きかけた呼気の排気経路がなく、ガスセンサに吹きかけた呼気が内部にこもってしまうため、前回測定時に吹きかけた呼気の影響が無くなるまでに時間がかかり、連続的に呼気の測定が行えないという問題があった。

本発明は上記問題点に鑑みて為されたものであり、その目的とするところは、連続的に測定が行える呼気検査装置を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するために、請求項1の発明では、呼気に含まれる一酸化炭素を検出する呼気検査装置であって、一端側に呼気の吹込み口を設けるとともに他端側に吹き込まれた呼気の排出口を設けた呼気吹込み部と、呼気吹込み部における吹込み口と排出口との間の呼気の流路に配置され、一酸化炭素の吸着によって抵抗値が変化する金属酸化物半導体で形成された感ガス体を有するガスセンサ部と、ガスセンサ部を駆動し感ガス体の抵抗値変化に基づいて呼気中に含まれる一酸化炭素の濃度を測定する駆動測定部と、駆動測定部での測定結果を表示する表示部とを備えて成ることを特徴とする。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、図面を参照して本発明の一実施形態を詳細に説明する。

図3に本実施形態の回路図を示す。本実施形態は、乾電池、充電池などの低電圧(例えば3V)の電池電源1と、感ガス体内にヒータ2を埋設し、ヒータ2の両端が接続される電極端子T1,T2と、感ガス体の一端に接続される出力電極端子T3の3端子構造の金属酸化物半導体ガスセンサ(以下、ガスセンサと略す)3と、表示部たる反射型の液晶表示器(以下LCDと称する)4と、上記ヒータ2の通電制御を行う手段や一酸化炭素(CO)の検知を行う検知手段などの機能がプログラム化され、またLCD4のドライバ機能を備え、装置全体の制御処理を行うマイクロコンピュータ(以下マイコンと略す)5と、一酸化炭素濃度の判定を行うための基準となるデータを格納するEEPROM6とを主要な構成要素としている。ここに、マイコン5により、ガスセンサ3(ガスセンサ部)を駆動し、感ガス体の抵抗値変化に基づいて呼気中に含まれる一酸化炭素の濃度を測定する駆動測定部が構成される。尚、本実施形態では電源として電池電源1を使用しているが、商用電源から電源供給を受けて、内部の動作電源を生成する電源部を設け、商用電源により駆動するようにしても良いことは言うまでもない。

ガスセンサ3は、感ガス体の出力電極端子T3と、ヒータ2のグランド側の一端が接続される電極端子T2との間の抵抗値が、感ガス体に検出対象ガス(一酸化炭素)が接触することにより変化するもので、内蔵したヒータ2をPNP型のトランジスタQ1と電源スイッチSW1とを介して電池電源1に接続してある。また感ガス体は、電池電源1に対してダイオードD1からPNP型のトランジスタQ2と抵抗R8との直列回路と、PNP型のトランジスタQ3と抵抗R9との直列回路との並列回路を介して接続されており、トランジスタQ2又はQ3或いはその両方のオン時に感ガス体に抵抗R8又はR9又は両抵抗の並列回路を介して流れる電流によって発生する感ガス体の両端電圧Vsがマイコン5の入力ポートである13番ピン(以下、マイコン5の各ピンをP13のように表記する)P13に取り込まれ、マイコン5はこの両端電圧Vsから感ガス体の抵抗値を演算する。

マイコン5は電池電源1に電源スイッチSW1とダイオードD1とを介して電源端子P39を接続して電源供給を受け、電池電源1に電源スイッチSW1を介して接続されたスタートスイッチSW2と抵抗R3の直列回路の中点を入力ポートP33に接続し、該入力ポートP33がハイレベルになれば、一酸化炭素を検知するための制御処理をプログラムに沿って開始するようになっている。

またマイコン5は、トランジスタQ1のベースに中点を接続し、一端を電池電源1の正極側に接続した抵抗R1,R2の直列回路の他端を出力ポートP17に接続し、出力ポートP17からデューティ制御用のパルス信号を出力してトランジスタQ1をオンオフさせることによりヒータ2の通電を制御する機能を備え、該機能によりトランジスタQ1のオンデューティを長くすることでガスセンサ3を高温加熱状態としたり、逆に短くすることで低温加熱状態とする加熱制御を行う。

更にマイコン5は、上記トランジスタQ2のバイアス回路を出力ポートP21に、またトランジスタQ3のバイアス回路を出力ポートP22に接続し、出力ポートP21,P22をローレベルにすることで、対応するトランジスタQ2,Q3にベース電流を流してオンさせ、感ガス体の抵抗Rsと電池電源1の正極との間に電源スイッチSW1及びダイオードD1を介して抵抗R8,R9を接続するようになっている。つまり負荷抵抗を抵抗R8又は抵抗R9或いは両抵抗R8,R9の並列回路に切り替える機能を有している。

またマイコン5の出力ポートP19と電池電源1の正極との間には、抵抗R4及び発光ダイオードD4の直列回路が接続され、出力ポートP20と電池電源1の正極との間には、抵抗R5及び発光ダイオードD5の直列回路が接続され、出力ポートP14と電池電源1の正極との間には、抵抗R6及び発光ダイオードD6の直列回路が接続されており、出力ポートP19,P20,P14をローレベルとすると、発光ダイオードD4,D5,D6に電流が流れて、発光ダイオードD4,D5,D6が点灯するようになっている。ここで、各発光ダイオードD4,D5,D6の発光色を例えば青色、黄色、赤色とし、一酸化炭素濃度の測定結果が0〜8ppmの場合(ノンスモーカー)は青色の発光ダイオードD4を点灯させ、9〜20ppmの場合(ライトスモーカー)は黄色の発光ダイオードD5を点灯させ、20ppm以上の場合(ヘビースモーカー)は赤色の発光ダイオードD6を点灯させるようにすれば、現在の喫煙状況を一目で判断することができる。

また更にマイコン5は、出力ポートP40〜P44,P1〜P7にLCD4の入力端子SEG0〜SEG11を夫々接続し、また出力ポートP35〜P38に共通端子COM1〜COM4を夫々接続し、出力ポートP40〜P44,P1〜P7より出力するドライブ信号にてLCD4の表示を制御するようになっている。

またマイコン5は3端子レギュレータ7の電圧を入力ポートP12に取り込み、該3端子レギュレータ7の電圧が規定値以上になると、電池切れを検知する電池切れ検知機能を持つ。すなわち、3端子レギュレータ7は、上記トランジスタQ2とダイオードD1を介して電池電源1に接続され、電池電圧を所定電圧に安定化させるようになっており、その安定化した電圧を上記入力ポートP12に印加するとともに、該安定化した電圧から電池電圧を監視して電池電圧の低下を相対的に検出できるようになっている。

EEPROM6は、検知対象ガス(一酸化炭素)の検出に用いる基準値を登録するものであって、通電開始時に検出した大気中の一酸化炭素濃度を基準値として記憶する。

そしてEEPROM6はデータ入力端子たる4番ピン(以下、EEPROM6の各ピンをPP4のように表記する)PP4、シリアルクロック端子PP5及びチップセレクタ端子PP3をマイコン5のデータ出力ポートP27,P26及びP24にそれぞれ接続するとともに、抵抗R9,R8,R10で夫々プルアップしている。またデータ出力端子PP6をマイコン5のデータ入力端子P25に接続してある。

LCD4は入力端子SEG0〜SEG11と共通端子COM1〜COM4の何れかの組み合わせがハイレベルになると、当該組み合わせに対応させた表示を行うようになっている。図6はLCD4の表示画面の表示例を示しており、画面中央には2桁の数字が表示され、画面左側には「HOLD」又は「CO」という文字が、画面右側には「SEC」又は「ppm」という文字が表示される。すなわち、後述するように空気の保持区間をカウントする場合は「HOLD」「SEC」という文字と時間を表す数字とを表示し、吹きかけ区間の時間をカウントダウンする場合は「SEC」という文字と時間を表す数字とを表示する。また、一酸化炭素濃度の測定結果を表示する場合は「CO」「ppm」という文字と濃度を表す数字とを表示する。なお、本実施形態では呼気中の一酸化炭素濃度を測定して、その測定結果を表示しているが、呼気中の一酸化炭素濃度からCOHb濃度を換算して、COHb濃度を表示するようにしても良く、その場合は「COHb」「%」という文字と濃度を表す数字とを表示すれば良い。

ところで、圧電ブザーBZ1と抵抗R10とダイオードD2との並列回路が電池電源1の正極とマイコン5の出力ポートP18に接続されており、マイコン5が出力ポートP18をローレベルとすることで電池電源1から通電されて圧電ブザーBZ1が鳴動するようになっている。

上述のような回路を構成するマイコン5やEEPROM6等を含む回路部品が図示しないプリント基板に実装されて検査装置本体20内に収納される。図1(a)に示すように、検査装置本体20は合成樹脂により箱形に形成され、本体前面にはタンブラースイッチよりなる電源スイッチSW1のハンドル21と、押釦スイッチよりなるスタートスイッチSW2の押釦22と、LCD4と、発光ダイオードD4,D5,D6とが配置されている。また、検査装置本体20には、圧電ブザーBZ1の発する音を検査装置本体20の外へ出すために貫通孔(図示せず)が設けてある。

一方、ガスセンサ3は、図1(b)に示すように、検査装置本体20とは別体に設けられた呼気吹込み部30の内部に収納される。ガスセンサ3は、図2に示すように有底筒状であって天井面にガス導入口13aが開口するセンサ筐体13と、センサ筐体13の底部を兼ねる樹脂製のベース14と、ベース14を貫通してセンサ筐体13内外に突出する3本の端子151,152,153と、端子151,152,153にリード線161,162,163を接続固定して支持されたセンシング素子17と、センサ筐体13のガス導入口13aに取り付けられたガス導入用のステンレス製の金網18とを備えている。センシング素子17は、楕円球状に形成された感ガス体に貴金属線から成るヒータ兼用電極が埋設されるとともに、ヒータ兼用電極の内部に貴金属線からなる芯線が設けられている。ここに、ヒータ兼用電極は上述のリード線161,163間に設けられ、芯線は上述のリード線162により形成されている。また、リード線162と、リード線161,163のいずれか一方とで電気抵抗測定用の端子を構成し、リード線161とリード線163とがヒータ加熱用の端子を構成している。そして、3本の端子151,152,153は、それぞれ、ケーブル23を介して検査装置本体20内部に収納されたプリント基板の導電路に電気的に接続されている。

呼気吹込み部30は、図1(b)に示すように一端側に呼気の吹込み口31aが設けられるとともに、他端側に呼気の排出口31bが設けられた合成樹脂製のハウジング31と、紙管からなりハウジング31の吹込み口31aに着脱自在に取り付けられるマウスピース32とで構成される。

ハウジング31は、前端部にマウスピース32の後部が嵌入される円筒状のマウスピース保持管33と、前端部がマウスピース保持管33の後端部に嵌入される円筒状のセンサ保持管34とで構成される。センサ保持管34の内部にはガス導入口13aを前端側(吹込み口31a側)に向けてガスセンサ3が取り付けられており、ガスセンサ3に一端が接続されたケーブル23はセンサ保持管34の周面に設けた孔から外部に引き出されている。尚、マウスピース保持管33の内面には、マウスピース32の後端部と当接してマウスピース32の挿入量を規制するストッパ33aが突設されている。

また、センサ保持管34の前端部には、通気性及び防水性に優れた薄膜状のフィルター35が取り付けられている。フィルター35は、図5に示すようにポリエステル又はポリエチレンからなる不織布35aの表面に、多孔質のPTFE(ポリテトラフロロエチレン)からなる防水層35bが形成された2層構造となっており、PTFEは水接触角が大きいため、毛細管現象が発生せず、高い防水性を有している。また、PTFEは多孔質であり、連続した空孔が形成されているので、高い通気性も兼ね備えている。このようなフィルター35を、呼気吹込み部30内の呼気の流路においてガスセンサ3の上流側に配置しているので、呼気を吹き込む際に唾液などがとんだとしてもガスセンサ3に水滴が付着するのを防止でき、ガスセンサ3の出力が変化したり破損したりするのを防止できる。

しかして、被験者がマウスピース32に呼気を吹き込むと、吹込み口31aからハウジング31内部に吹き込まれた呼気が、フィルター35及び金網18を通してセンサ筐体13内のセンシング素子17に接触することとなり、感ガス体の抵抗値変化から呼気中の一酸化炭素濃度を測定できるようになっている。

次に本実施形態の動作を図4のタイミングチャートに基づいて説明する。

まず、電源スイッチSW1を投入して、電池電源1を接続すると、リセットIC8の働きによりマイコン5はリセットされて、初期設定を行った後、待機状態に移行する。

待機状態において、マイコン5は出力ポートP17から所定の周期及びデューティ比のパルス信号を出力して、トランジスタQ1をオンオフさせ、トランジスタQ1のオン期間にガスセンサ3のヒータ2に電池電源1より電力を供給している。そして、パルス信号の周期及びデューティ比を周期的に切り替えることで、ヒータ2に平均電圧が約0.9Vのヒータ電圧Vhを例えば3秒間供給して、ガスセンサ3を高温状態に加熱する高温加熱期間と、平均電圧が約0.2Vのヒータ電圧Vhを例えば7秒間供給して、ガスセンサ3を低温状態に加熱する低温加熱期間とを交互に設け、高温加熱期間において感ガス体に付着した検知対象ガスを燃焼させて感ガス体のクリーニングを行うとともに、低温加熱期間の終了する直前に感ガス体の抵抗値を取り込んで、検知対象ガスの濃度を検出する。尚、本実施形態では高温加熱期間を3秒、低温加熱期間を7秒として、高温加熱期間と低温加熱期間とを交互に繰り返しているが、高温加熱期間及び低温加熱期間の時間幅を上記の時間幅に限定する趣旨のものではなく、両加熱期間の時間幅は使用条件等に応じて適宜設定すればよい。

ここで、マイコン5は、待機状態において雰囲気中の一酸化炭素濃度を検出してゼロ点補正を行っており、高温加熱期間において感ガス体に付着した検知対象ガスを燃焼させて感ガス体のクリーニングを行った後、低温加熱期間が終了する直前のトランジスタQ1のオフ時(図4中に○で示すタイミング)にトランジスタQ2及びQ3(或いはQ2又はQ3のみ)をオンさせる信号を出力ポートP21及びP22(或いはP21又はP22)より出力させ、負荷抵抗である抵抗R8及びR9からなる並列回路(或いは抵抗R8又はR9)をガスセンサ3の感ガス体に直列に接続し、この負荷抵抗を通じて感ガス体に通電して、ガスセンサ3の感ガス体の両端電圧Vsを入力ポートP13に取り込む。このように、マイコン5は、感ガス体の両端電圧Vsをサンプリングして感ガス体の抵抗値Rsを計算しており、抵抗値Rsが安定した時点でこの抵抗値Rsをゼロ点(雰囲気中の一酸化炭素濃度)としてEEPROM6に記憶させる。この時、マイコン5はブザーBZ1を鳴動させたり、発光ダイオードD5を点灯させるなどして、測定準備が完了したことを報知する。このように、本実施形態では待機状態において雰囲気中の一酸化炭素濃度(2〜3ppm)を検出し、ゼロ点調整を自動的に行っているので、一酸化炭素濃度の測定精度が向上する。

その後、待機状態時にスタートスイッチSW2がオン操作され、入力ポートP33の電圧がハイレベルに立ち上がると、マイコン5は検査モードで動作を開始する。なお、呼気中の一酸化炭素濃度を検出する場合は、先ず被験者に、ゆっくりと肺に空気を吸い込ませて、例えば15秒間息を止めさせた後(保持区間)、今度は肺の中の空気を例えば15秒間かけてゆっくりと呼気吹込み部30に吹きかけさせてから(吹込み区間)、一酸化炭素の測定を行っている。

マイコン5は、検査モード時においても待機状態と同様、出力ポートP17から所定の周期及びデューティ比のパルス信号を出力して、トランジスタQ1をオンオフさせ、トランジスタQ1のオン期間にガスセンサ3のヒータ2に電池電源1より電力を供給する。そして、パルス信号の周期及びデューティ比を周期的に切り替えることで、ヒータ2に平均電圧が約0.9Vのヒータ電圧Vhを例えば3秒間供給して、ガスセンサ3を高温状態に加熱する高温加熱期間と、平均電圧が約0.2Vのヒータ電圧Vhを例えば7秒間供給して、ガスセンサ3を低温状態に加熱する低温加熱期間とを交互に設けている。

またマイコン5は検査モードで動作を開始すると、出力ポートP19の信号レベルをロー/ハイに切り替えることで発光ダイオードD4を例えば15秒間点滅させるとともに、LCD4の画面に「HOLD」「sec」という文字と数字とを表示させ、さらに数字の表示を「15」「14」「13」…「1」と1秒毎にカウントダウンさせて、被験者に空気を吸い込んだ後、息を止める保持区間Taであることを報知し、肺に空気を吸い込んだ状態で息を止めさせる。

そして、スタートスイッチSW2のオン時から15秒が経過し、LCD4の表示が「0」になると、マイコン5は出力ポートP19の信号レベルをハイレベルとして、発光ダイオードD4を消灯させるとともに、LCD4の画面に「sec」という文字と数字とを表示させ、さらに数字の表示を「15」「14」「13」…「1」と1秒毎にカウントダウンさせて、被験者に吹込み区間Tbであることを報知し、吹込み区間Tbが終了するまで呼気を呼気吹込み部30に吹きかけさせる。

その後、吹込み区間Tbの開始から15秒が経過し、LCD4の表示が「0」になると、吹込み区間Tbを終了して測定表示区間Tcに移行し、マイコン5は出力ポートP19の信号レベルをローレベルとして、発光ダイオードD4を点灯させ、吹込み区間Tbの終了を報知する。そして、測定表示区間Tcにおいて低温加熱期間が終了する直前のトランジスタQ1のオフ時にトランジスタQ2及びQ3(或いはQ2又はQ3のみ)をオンさせる信号を出力ポートP21及びP22(或いはP21又はP22)より出力させ、負荷抵抗である抵抗R8及びR9からなる並列回路(或いは抵抗R8又はR9)をガスセンサ3の感ガス体に直列に接続し、この負荷抵抗を通じて感ガス体に通電して、ガスセンサ3の感ガス体の両端電圧Vsを入力ポートP13に取り込む。このように、マイコン5は、感ガス体の両端電圧Vsをサンプリングして感ガス体の抵抗値Rsを計算しており、今回求めた抵抗値Rsと基準値との比率を求めることで、呼気中の一酸化炭素濃度を求めて、LCD4に測定結果を表示させており、LCD4の表示から呼気中の一酸化炭素濃度を読み取ることができる。尚、マイコン5は各測定点(図4中の○で示す点)で計測した一酸化炭素濃度を次回測定時までホールドして、LCD4に表示しているが、一酸化炭素濃度を連続的に測定して、LCD4の表示をアナログ的に変化させるようにしても良い。

ところで、本実施形態では呼気吹込み部30(ハウジング31)内の呼気の流路の一端側に吹込み口31aを設けるとともに、他端側に排出口31bを設けているので、吹込み口31aから吹き込まれた呼気が内部に滞留するのを防止でき、前回測定時に吹き込まれた呼気の影響を短時間で無くすことができるから、次回測定時までの時間間隔を短縮でき、連続的に計測を行うことができる。

また、電気化学式のガスセンサを用いる場合、電気化学式のガスセンサは高インピーダンスでノイズがのりやすいため、ガスセンサを検査装置本体20内に収納する必要があるが、電気化学式のガスセンサに比べて低インピーダンスの金属酸化物半導体で形成された感ガス体を有するガスセンサ3を用いているので、呼気吹込み部30と検査装置本体20とを別体とした場合でも、ガスセンサ3と検査装置本体20内の回路基板との間を接続するケーブル23にノイズがのりにくく、したがって、呼気吹込み部30とLCD4が配置された検査装置本体20とを別体とすることにより、検査時にLCD4の表示が見易くなって、使い勝手が向上する。尚、本実施形態では呼気吹込み部30を検査装置本体20と別体に形成しているが、検査装置本体20を手で把持可能な大きさに形成して、呼気吹込み部30を検査装置本体20と一体に形成しても良く、呼気吹込み部30と検査装置本体20とを一体化することで、携帯性が向上するという利点がある。
