Abstract
Description
【0001】
【0040】
F=1/{(25.4/I)/(2.54・V)}…(1)

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a recording apparatus that records an image or the like by ejecting ink droplets from a nozzle opening due to pressure fluctuation in a pressure chamber.
[0002]
[Prior art]
An ink jet printer, which is one of the recording apparatuses, moves a recording head in a main scanning direction and a recording paper in a sub scanning direction, and interlocks with these movements to move ink droplets from nozzle openings of a recording head. To print images and characters on the recording paper. The ejection of the ink droplets is performed by driving a pressure generating element such as a piezoelectric vibrator provided in correspondence with the nozzle opening to cause a pressure fluctuation in a pressure chamber communicating with the nozzle opening.
[0003]
In this type of ink jet printer, a series of drive signals including a plurality of pulse signals of the same shape for ejecting ink droplets are generated, and a predetermined number of pulse signals are selected from the drive signals and supplied to the pressure generating element. Then, by performing gradation recording in which the size of the dots is changed, the recording image quality is improved. For example, a series of drive signals is formed by including three pulse signals generated at a constant interval in one recording cycle.
[0004]
Then, when forming a large dot, three pulse signals are supplied to the pressure generating element, when forming a medium dot, two pulse signals are supplied to the pressure generating element, and when forming a small dot, one pulse signal is supplied. The signal is supplied to the pressure generating element. This makes it possible to perform recording with four gradations of “large dot”, “medium dot”, “small dot”, and “non-recording” to improve the recording image quality.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the above-described ink jet printer, the viscosity of the ink decreases when the ambient temperature increases, so that the diameter of the ink droplet may be larger than usual. On the other hand, the viscosity of the ink increases when the ambient temperature decreases, The diameter of the ink droplet may be smaller than usual. In such a case, the recording accuracy may be reduced. Therefore, when the surrounding temperature is high, the voltage of the driving signal supplied to the pressure generating element is reduced, and when the surrounding temperature is low, the driving signal supplied to the pressure generating element is reduced. By increasing the voltage, the diameter of the ink droplet is kept constant to maintain a highly accurate recording state.
[0006]
However, particularly when large dots and medium dots are formed in gradation recording, the frequency of the drive signal increases, so that when the surrounding temperature increases, the vibration of the ink liquid surface at the nozzle opening becomes difficult to stop, while When the temperature becomes low, the supply of ink to the pressure chamber cannot keep up with the supply, and the supply becomes insufficient. For this reason, the flight of the ejected ink droplets becomes unstable, but cannot be eliminated by the above-described voltage adjustment of the drive signal, and there is a possibility that the recording accuracy may decrease.
[0007]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the present invention to provide a recording apparatus capable of discharging stable ink droplets without being affected by a change in ambient temperature.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, in a printing apparatus according to
[0009]
In order to achieve the above object, a recording apparatus according to a third aspect of the present invention is characterized in that, in a recording apparatus that records on a recording medium by a recording head, the frequency of a drive signal of the recording head is changed according to an ambient temperature. According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the recording apparatus according to the third aspect, when the ambient temperature is higher or lower than a predetermined temperature, the frequency of the driving signal of the recording head is reduced.
[0010]
According to a fifth aspect of the invention, in the recording apparatus according to any one of the first to fourth aspects, the recording head is capable of performing gradation recording. According to a sixth aspect of the invention, in the recording apparatus according to any one of the first to fifth aspects, the recording head ejects ink droplets to perform recording.
[0011]
If the moving speed of the carriage decreases, that is, if the frequency of the recording head drive signal decreases, the vibration of the ink liquid surface at the nozzle opening quickly stops even when the ambient temperature is high, while the pressure is low even when the ambient temperature is low. Since the supply of the ink to the chamber follows, the supply is proper. For this reason, the flight of the ejected ink droplet is stable, and the recording accuracy can be maintained with high accuracy.

Here, as described in the related art, particularly when forming large dots and medium dots in gradation printing, the frequency of the drive signal (COM) increases, so that when the ambient temperature increases, the ink liquid at the nozzle opening increases. Vibration of the surface is difficult to stop, while on the other hand, when the ambient temperature is low, the supply of ink to the pressure chambers cannot keep up and the supply becomes insufficient. For this reason, the flight of the ejected ink droplet becomes unstable, and there is a possibility that the recording accuracy is reduced.

Generally, the frequency F of the drive signal (COM) at which the flight of the ejected ink droplets becomes unstable when the temperature is higher or lower than room temperature is 28 KHz or more, so the frequency F of the drive signal (COM) is 21.2 KHz. Is appropriate. The above-described control is performed by detecting the temperature of each page or each line.
[0042]
As described above, the present invention has been described with respect to various embodiments. However, the present invention is not limited to the above embodiments, and is applicable to other embodiments within the scope of the invention described in the claims. Of course. For example, an ink jet printer has been described as an example of a recording device. However, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, the present invention is also applicable to a thermal transfer printer or the like, an ink jet printer, a thermal transfer facsimile machine, a copying machine, or the like. .

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, if the moving speed of the carriage is reduced, that is, if the frequency of the drive signal of the recording head is reduced, the vibration of the ink liquid surface at the nozzle opening is quickly caused even when the surrounding temperature is high. On the other hand, even if the ambient temperature is low, the supply of the ink to the pressure chamber follows, so that the supply is proper. For this reason, the flight of the ejected ink droplet is stable, and the recording accuracy can be maintained with high accuracy. .
