Field of the Invention [0002] The present invention relates to a coating apparatus using an extrusion die head for applying a coating liquid to a surface of a substrate which is an object to be coated. Things. [0002] Conventionally, a coating apparatus using an extrusion die head has been widely used in various fields since uniform thin film coating is possible. The die head basically has a structure including a manifold for spreading the coating liquid from the liquid inlet in the width direction, and a die discharge section at the tip end where the coating liquid is extruded from the manifold. A type of die head provided with a second second manifold in addition to the first manifold provided to improve the liquid discharge accuracy in the width direction is known. FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing an example of a die head provided with such two manifolds. In FIG. 1, reference numeral 1 denotes a die upper plate, 2 denotes a die lower plate, 3 denotes a first manifold, 4 denotes a second manifold, and a coating liquid supplied into the die head from a liquid inlet 5 provided behind the die lower plate 2. The working liquid is spread in the width direction by the first manifold 3,
After passing through the manifold 4, it is discharged from the die discharge section 6 at the tip and is applied onto the running web. As can be seen from the figure, the second manifold 4 functions as a guide groove for sliding the deckle 6 for changing the discharge width of the coating liquid. As described above, the second manifold provided in the conventional die head is a guide groove for sliding a deckle for changing the discharge width of the coating liquid.
There was no particular recognition that the manifold was effective in improving the liquid ejection accuracy in the width direction of the die head. Therefore, when the second manifold is provided, no consideration has been given to the cross-sectional area and the installation position. The present invention has been made in view of such a background, and an object of the present invention is to provide a coating apparatus provided with a die head having a second manifold effective for improving the accuracy of coating liquid discharge. To provide. In order to achieve the above object, a coating apparatus according to the present invention comprises a manifold for spreading a coating liquid from a liquid inlet in a width direction, and a coating liquid from the manifold. In a coating apparatus using an extrusion-type die head including a die discharge section at a tip from which a working liquid is extruded, a second manifold is provided in addition to the first manifold, and the first manifold and the second manifold are cut off. When the areas are S1 and S2, respectively, S2 / S1 ≧
0.4, the length from the outlet of the first manifold to the inlet of the second manifold is L1, and the length from the outlet of the second manifold to the die discharge unit is L2,
It is characterized in that the value of 1 / (L1 + L2) is 0.4 to 0.6. [0007] Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. FIG. 2 is a sectional view of a die head used in the coating apparatus of the present invention. The die head 10 has a first manifold 13 and a second manifold 12 between a die upper plate 11 and a die lower plate 12.
It has a manifold 14, the first manifold is connected to a liquid inlet 15 provided behind the die lower plate 12, and the second manifold 14 is connected to a die discharge unit 16 at the tip. Then, the coating liquid supplied into the die head from the liquid inlet 15 is spread in the width direction by the first manifold 13, passes through the second manifold 14, and is discharged from the die discharge section 16 at the leading end and travels. Applied on top. When the second manifold 14 is provided in addition to the first manifold 13 as in the die head 10,
The liquid discharge accuracy in the width direction improves, and the liquid discharge accuracy in the width direction improves as the ratio of the cross-sectional area increases. In the present invention, when the sectional areas of the first manifold and the second manifold are S1 and S2, respectively, S2 / S1 ≧ 0.
4 is designed. As described above, when the cross-sectional areas S1 and S2 of the first manifold and the second manifold have such a relationship, the rate of change of the liquid discharge accuracy is suppressed to a small value.
The influence of a change in the cross-sectional area due to poor processing accuracy of the second manifold 14 is reduced. In the present invention, the first manifold 13
Where L1 is the length from the outlet of the second manifold 14 to the inlet of the second manifold 14, and L2 is the length from the outlet of the second manifold 14 to the die discharger 16. L1 / (L1 + L
Set so that the value of 2) becomes 0.4 to 0.6. As described above, when the value of L1 / (L1 + L2) falls within the range of 0.4 to 0.6, the change rate of the liquid discharge accuracy is suppressed to a small value, and the influence of the cross-sectional area change due to the poor processing accuracy of the second manifold 14 is obtained. Is reduced. In particular, the second manifold 14
When L1 / (L1 + L2) = 0.5, which is an intermediate point between the first manifold 13 and the die discharge unit 16, the value of the liquid discharge accuracy in the width direction of the die head 10 becomes the smallest. (Embodiment 1) A die head in which the cross-sectional area of the first manifold is fixed and the ratio of the cross-sectional area of the first manifold to the second manifold is changed is prepared, and an experiment is performed by using these die heads. The liquid discharge accuracy in the width direction was evaluated. The experimental conditions are as follows. The sectional area of the first manifold is A = 0.79.
cm 2 (radius: 0.50 cm), B = 1.77 cm
2 (radius: 0.75 cm) and C = 3.14 cm 2 (radius: 1.00 cm). For each, the cross-sectional area of the second manifold is 0, 1/5 of the cross-sectional area of the first manifold, 2 / 5, 3/5, 4/5, 5/5
Different types of die heads were prepared. The slit gap between the first manifold and the second manifold is 0.05
cm, and the slit gap between the second manifold and the die discharge unit was changed according to the second manifold sectional area so that the pressure in the die head was constant. A glycerin aqueous solution (Newtonian fluid) having a viscosity of 5 cps was used as a coating liquid, and the liquid ejection deviation (±%) when each die head was used was examined. The result is as shown in the graph of FIG. From the graph of FIG. 3, it can be seen that the provision of the second manifold in addition to the first manifold improves the liquid discharge accuracy in the width direction, and the larger the ratio of the cross-sectional area (S1 / S2), the more the liquid discharge in the width direction. It can be seen that the ejection deviation is reduced. It can also be seen that when the ratio of the cross-sectional areas exceeds 0.4, the rate of change of the liquid ejection accuracy decreases. (Example 2) A die head in which the position of the first manifold was fixed and the position of the second manifold was changed was prepared, and experiments were carried out with these die heads to evaluate the liquid discharge accuracy in the width direction. The experimental conditions are as follows. The sectional area of the first manifold is A = 0.79.
cm 2 (radius: 0.50 cm), B = 1.77 cm
2 (radius: 0.75 cm) and C = 3.14 cm 2 (radius: 1.00 cm), and the cross-sectional area of the second manifold was の of the cross-sectional area of the first manifold. The slit gap is 0.05cm
And Then, for each of the three types of first manifold cross-sectional area, the total slit length (L1 + L2) is set to 5
cm, and the value of L1 / (L1 + L2) is 0, 0.2,
Six types of die heads of 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1 were prepared. A glycerin aqueous solution (Newtonian fluid) having a viscosity of 5 cps was used as a coating liquid, and the liquid ejection deviation (±%) when each die head was used was examined. The result is as shown in the graph of FIG. From the graph of FIG. 4, L1 / (L1 + L
It can be seen that when the value of 2) is 0.4 to 0.6, the rate of change of the liquid ejection accuracy becomes small. In particular, L1 / (L1 + L2) =
It can be seen that when the value is 0.5, the value of the liquid discharge accuracy in the width direction becomes the smallest. The coating apparatus of the present invention comprises a manifold for spreading the coating liquid from the liquid inlet in the width direction, and a die discharge section at the tip from which the coating liquid is extruded from the manifold. In the coating apparatus using the extrusion die head provided, a second manifold is provided in addition to the first manifold, and when the cross-sectional areas of the first manifold and the second manifold are S1 and S2, respectively, S2
/S1≧0.4, and the length from the outlet of the first manifold to the inlet of the second manifold is L1, and the length from the outlet of the second manifold to the die discharge unit is L2, L1 / L1 Since the value of (L1 + L2) is set to 0.4 to 0.6, by providing the second manifold, the liquid discharge accuracy in the width direction is improved, and the size of the second manifold with respect to the first manifold is increased. In this case, the liquid discharge accuracy in the width direction of the die head can be kept good without being affected by poor processing accuracy of the second manifold.
