In order to fold hard-to-fold clothing without increasing its thickness, the left and right sleeves are folded on the left and right sides of the clothing so that the sleeves do not overlap. Therefore, the sleeves are folded side by side to the left and right sides of the garment and do not intersect at the center, but a movable gauge that is arranged diagonally with respect to the vertical direction of the garment being conveyed for this purpose. Used. The gauge taking an oblique position with respect to the clothing in the transport direction moves onto the clothing every time the folding operation is performed, and retreats from the clothing after the sleeve is folded.

[0008] The work of folding the sleeve may rely on hand,
Alternatively, it may be performed mechanically. Considering that the folded object is an easy-to-fold form such as a sleeve, but that it should be folded and placed on both sides of the garment, it is considered that the workability is better to be manually folded using a gauge. It is desirable that the sleeve be bent downward and overlap the left and right sides of the garment. It can be freely determined whether the sleeve is folded to the front or back of the garment. FIG.
4 shows an example in which the sleeve is folded to the front side, and FIG. 15B shows an example in which the sleeve is folded to the back side.

The garment after sleeve folding is provided with a transport section for supporting the central portion of the garment and a vertical tri-fold member for supporting the left and right sides of the garment, and these are used to perform vertical tri-fold.
Vertical tri-folding is a process of folding the left and right sides of the garment on which the sleeves are folded in the vertical direction (up and down direction) so as to overlap the center. By folding the left and right sides of the garment so as to overlap the center, the body of the garment is folded and tripled, and the left and right sleeves overlap therewith. It is also possible to freely decide whether to fold the left and right sides of the clothing to the front or back of the clothing, but it is also desirable to fold to the back side so that the front row of buttons is not hidden Easy.

Further, a foldable member is previously arranged in the transporting section supporting the central portion of the garment, and by operating the foldable member, the garment that has been vertically folded into three is determined in the trifold direction. It should be folded in two at a substantially right angle. The fabric folded in the vertical direction and the horizontal direction in this way is compressed by the press section so that the folded form is maintained. When the fabric is thick and the glue is used for finishing, it is quite strong and may not be kept in a certain shape even when folded, but it is necessary to suppress the swelling of the clothing due to the reaction force of folding by compression. Is desirable.

Each of the gauges 12, 12 is arranged obliquely with respect to the vertical direction of the garment M to be conveyed. The gauges 12, 12 are generally outwardly directed regardless of whether they are shoulders or T-shirts. This is a desirable arrangement for folding the sleeves S that are on the both sides of the body of the garment M substantially in parallel (see FIG. 6). In the illustrated example, the garment is transported upward, so that the sleeve S is also folded forward (front). However, when the garment M is transported downward, the sleeve S is also folded back (rear). FIG.
The broken line in the middle indicates a bending line inclined with respect to the transport direction.

As a part of the transport means, the input conveyor 11
The feeding conveyor 11B to the reversing unit 21 is continuously arranged at A, and the rear end is an inclined reversing conveyor 11C, which reverses the traveling direction of the clothes M. The reversing conveyor 11C is inclined so that the clothes M can smoothly enter and exit the large-diameter press roller 22, and the pressing roller 22 is in contact with a holding conveyor 11D in a substantially rectangular shape. The reason why the diameter of the press roller 22 is made large is to press the clothing without deforming the clothing in order to fix the sleeve folded state.
