Ultraviolet irradiation and inspection system and fluorescent dye leak detection method
Background of the Invention
The present invention relates to a method for detecting a liquid leak, and more particularly to a method for detecting a liquid leak, which is generally referred to as “black light”.
Use a dye that fluoresces when irradiated with light of a certain wavelength, such as typical ultraviolet light.
Leak detection.
Conventional technology
UV sources generally include sterilization, exploration, documentation, dental work hardening and leak detection, etc.
Used for
Fluorescent dyes are typically tested, such as cooling means in air conditioning systems
It is mixed with the lubricating oil that is mixed with the liquid in the device.
If there is a leak, the dye in the leak will fluoresce when exposed to ultraviolet light,
Thus, the leaked liquid is easily made visible.
Such dyes, when excited by shorter wavelength ultraviolet light, have a specific visible wavelength range.
Fluoresces or emits light.
To make such leak detection easy and reliable, especially in bright environments
In addition, a powerful light source that irradiates light with an appropriate wavelength and that does not emit visible light
You need to use If visible light is reflected from the surface being inspected,
The light caused by light becomes unclear.
Today, the available light sources do not have sufficient intensity, and
Of the fluorescent light and visible light reflected light for reliable inspection.
The strike was inadequate.
Also, attempts to absorb and remove visible light with a filter lens may result in overheating.
Problems also arise.
Such overheating causes the lens to crack and shortens its life, and in particular, water droplets on the lens
In the event of a collision, the shattered glass will cause an accident for the user.
In an attempt to create more powerful light sources, quartz envelope lamps (e

The filter 20 filters the visible light component of the ultraviolet light received from the lamp 14 and the reflector 10.
Designed to be reduced.
Such filters have been used in the past, but absorb visible light.
It has been designed so as to prevent its transmission. This is the high intensity light source
In use, it causes the lens to overheat and the glass spots will be
In the event of contact, this increases the risk of cracking or breaking.
In accordance with the concepts of the present invention, it reflects visible light rather than absorbs, and increases the heat of lens 20.
A very reduced coating is applied.
As the filter 20 itself, borosilicate glass is preferable.
Furthermore, "Pyrex" (trademark) is commercially available.
It has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion so as to minimize cracking from thermal shock.
Fluorescent dyes typically used for leak detection are ultraviolet wavelengths from 320 nm to 475
It has an excitation range of nm. When excited by such ultraviolet light, 495 to 5
It fluoresces at 00 nm.
Thus, while reflecting wavelengths from 475 nm to 700 nm, 320 nm
To 475 nm of the excitation wavelength can be maximized.
Light above 700 nm belongs to the invisible infrared range and, in particular,
In order to avoid heat, it can pass through the filter 20 and out of the enclosed space.
It is as if.
When the special coating is 475 nm or more and visible light of 700 nm or less,
