However, according to the method of pressing the folded portion with a rotating brush or a roller, as shown in FIG.
The properties and shape of the brushes and rollers ensure that the folded portion 72a of the facing material (decorative paper or the like) 72 is hung from the side end surface of the core material (paperboard or the like) 71 to the back surface so as to ensure uniform contact. And it's pretty difficult. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 16, a part of the folded portion 72 a is more likely to be lifted from the surface of the core 71. In particular, at least two corners of the cover, where two or more cover materials 72 overlap, are difficult to fold into an accurate shape. In this case, the appearance of the cover is impaired, and the cover is easily damaged. In order to eliminate this problem as much as possible, every time the material of the surface material is different, it is troublesome work to replace each with a dedicated brush or roller with the optimal material and shape selected in advance by trial and error. Will be needed. Even if the endless belt is pressed against the folded portion, it is inevitable that a similar problem as described above occurs.

Next, the operation of the folding mechanism 100 will be described. The edge of the work W is fed into the gap between the base 12 and the pressing member 13 from the front end of the folding mechanism 100 (see FIG. 6). Then, first, as shown in FIG. 9, the corner portion of the work W is pressed against the first pressing plate 22, and the folded back portion 2 b on the upper (lower) edge side of the work W is pressed. The close contact member 23 attached to the plate 22 tightly presses the side end surface of the core material 1.
This makes it possible to surely and clearly finish a portion of each corner of the cover A where the folded portions 2a and 2b are folded.

When the work W, which has been further advanced after the close contact processing of the corner portion has been completed as described above, reaches the mounting position of the end face pressing roller 42, the pressing portion 13 of the pressing member 13 at this time.
As shown in FIG. 10, the folded portion 2 a raised along the side end contact surface M of FIG. 2 b (see FIG. 5) is securely attached to the side end surface of the core material 1 by the end surface pressing roller 42. It is pressed. Of course, the inclined upper surface of the attached flange 42a is
It acts to push up the core material 1. Therefore, in the vicinity of the side end surface of the core 1, the possibility that the pasted cover material 2 is slackened can be reliably eliminated.

When the corner portion of the work W which has continued to advance reaches near the starting point of the pressing surface N of the pressing member 13, FIG.
As shown in (2), the second pressing plate 41 presses the upper surface of the folded portion 2b already attached to the upper edge of the work W. Thereby, when folding back the unattached folded portion 2a on the side edge side,
With this movement, it is possible to reliably eliminate the possibility that the attached folded portion 2b may rise.

In this state, when the work W further advances,
The folded portion 2 a that has been in the upright state until now is gradually folded by the pressing surface N of the pressing member 13. Referring to FIG. 12, first, as shown in FIG. 12 (a), the folded portion is formed from the cross-sectional shape of the main portion N1 (see FIG. 5) of the pressing surface N on the distal end side. 2a, first, only the portion on the base end side in the width direction is securely pressed onto the core material 1.

FIG. 14 is a schematic plan view showing the vicinity of the folding mechanism 100.
As described in the above, the direction of the pressing force F exerted on the folded portions 2a and 2b by the pressing surface N of the pressing member 13 is different from the direction of the edge of the core material 1 (the traveling direction of the work W). The direction is selected so as to intersect at an acute angle, for example, around 30 degrees, instead of the orthogonal direction. Folding parts 2a, 2b
Such setting of the pressing condition significantly helps to prevent poor adhesion of the folded portion as shown in FIG.

The function of the close contact member 23 attached to the first push plate 22 and the second push plate 41 is as follows.
Even at a portion where two or more folded portions 2a and 2b at each corner of the cover sheet are folded, it is possible to surely finish a desired, clean and accurate folded state.

It is to be noted that there is an error in the width of the core material 1 of the work W fed to the apparatus 200, and the width is slightly too wide, or the misalignment of the set spacing between the pair of folding mechanisms 100 on the left and right causes an error. The spacing can be somewhat too narrow. In such a case, both ends of the work W inserted between the pair of folding mechanisms 100 and 100 at a high speed impact against the pressing member 13.

As is apparent from the above description, the cover material attaching apparatus for a cover according to the present invention has various excellent effects as listed below. (A) With the pressing surface of the pressing member having a peculiar cross-sectional shape and by the end face pressing roller, the folded portion of the surface material can be tightly adhered to the core material over the entire surface. (B) Further, by the action of the close contact member and the second pressing plate, each corner portion of the cover sheet where two or more cover materials are overlapped is also finished in a folded state as desired. (C) Therefore, it is possible to almost completely eliminate the disadvantage that the folded portion of the cover material partially rises or the corner portion is not accurately folded, which makes the appearance of the cover unsightly, which is likely to occur in the prior art. (D) Since the height position of the close contact member can be adjusted according to the difference in the material and thickness of the surface mounting material, problems such as hindering the progress of the work W do not occur. (E) When a work having a lateral width larger than the specified width is supplied or when the spacing between the pair of folding mechanisms is too narrow, the pressing member is retracted to the side by the action of the retracting spring.
Inconvenience is prevented from occurring.
