2. Description of the Related Art As a method of casting a thin film at a high speed, a method of casting a film in which a molten polymer is extruded into a film form from an orifice-shaped die, and is adhered to a cooling roll surface by gas pressure to be solidified. However, there is a phenomenon that a low molecular weight compound sublimated from a film-like polymer is deposited on a cooling roll surface. When the pressure of the gas is increased, a part of the pressurized air current collides with an unsolidified film-like material in a free space from the die to the cooling roll and vibrates, thereby deteriorating the uniformity of the thickness. Therefore, a film in which uniformity of thickness is important has to be cast at a relatively low level of gas pressure. When the pressure of the gas is low, the adhesive action between the film and the cooling roll is weak, so that the heat transfer action between the film and the cooling roll does not increase. As a result, the temperature of the film is gradually cooled, the sublimation action is maintained, and the sublimate accumulates on the cooling roll surface in a short time because the film and the cooling roll run close to each other. If a deposited layer with low thermal conductivity is formed on the surface of the cooling roll, the cooling effect of the roll is further reduced and the deposition of sublimate is accelerated, and this deposit is transferred to the film surface, or a part of the deposit is It easily peels off and adheres to the film, resulting in quality defects.

Conventionally, a method and an apparatus for cleaning deposits on a cooling roll surface online without interrupting the production of a film have been proposed. For example, Japanese Patent Publication No. 39-211
No. 27 proposes a method of pressing a film on a cooling roll surface with a roll. However, in this method, since the deposit is transferred to the film, there is a concern that a defect may occur on the film surface. Japanese Patent Publication No. 47-3917 proposes a method in which the roll surface is always washed with water and dried at the non-contact portion of the film on the cooling roll surface. This method has a drawback that the apparatus becomes large. Tokiko 48-4
No. 465 proposes a method of cleaning a cooling roll surface using a solvent that dissolves deposits and removing the solvent by suction. This method also requires a large-scale apparatus. Japanese Patent Publication No. 55-36490 proposes a method in which a rotating brush is pressed against the surface of a cooling roll to remove the separated deposits by suction. However, it is difficult to completely remove the separated products by suction. JP-A-57-
In the method of corona treatment of the cooling roll surface described in Japanese Patent No. 51426, and the method of decomposing and removing deposits by irradiating ultraviolet rays to the cooling roll surface described in Japanese Examined Patent Publication No. 3-65775, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. HEI 5-63175. May not be able to keep up with the progress of the deposition due to the slow processing speed, and it may be difficult to perform complete cleaning.

However, in the casting method by pressing gas, the deposition rate of the sublimate is much faster than in the electrostatic adhesion method in which the film is adhered by the Coulomb force of the static electricity applied to the film, and the cause is not clear. However, in the case of electrostatic adhesion, the film is rapidly cooled, whereas in the case of gas pressure, the film is gradually cooled, and the sublimate diffuses from the inside of the film to the surface and the action from the surface. It is considered that the sublimation effect is maintained. Therefore, the corona treatment method or the ultraviolet irradiation method cannot be applied to the gas pressing method in which the deposition rate of the sublimate is high.

The inventor of the present invention has solved the above-mentioned problems and has studied a method of removing the sublimate more quickly than the deposition rate of the sublimate and ensuring the removal action without increasing the size of the equipment. As a feature, the adhesive force to the cooling roll surface is weak, and it can be easily wiped and removed by rubbing the roll surface with an aggregate of fibers such as felt, and a roll in which the film is not in contact with the aggregate of fibers. The present inventors have found out that the exfoliated substance of the sublimate can be reliably removed by rubbing at two points on the upstream and downstream sides of the surface.

The molten polymer film 12 extruded from the die 11 is taken up by the cooling roll 13 and pressed by the cooling roll by the gas inside the air chamber 14 to form a solid film. Is generally not very strong, the adhesion of the film to the cooling roll is weak, and the heat transfer effect is also low, so that the film is gradually cooled and solidified. Since the molten film runs close to the cooling roll and is gradually cooled, the sublimable low-molecular compound diffuses from the inside of the film into the film surface and sublimates, and solidifies on the cooling roll surface to form the low-molecular compound. Foreign matter accumulates. The cooling roll on which the foreign matter is deposited passes through the cleaning device 15 of the present invention, and the molten film is cast again. On the other hand, the solidified film is taken up by the take-up roll 16 and reaches the next stretching step and winding step. In the cleaning device of the present invention, the sheet-like aggregate 51 of the fiber wound in a roll shape leaves the unwinding roll 52 and causes the surface of the support 55 on the cooling roll surface side of the first-stage wiper to be opposed to the rotation of the roll. In the direction, and rubs the roll surface to catch foreign matter. Next, the foreign matter capturing surface of the sheet is connected to the air-permeable support surface 57 of the suction housing 56.
To remove the foreign matter by suction. The sheet is further guided by a second-stage wiper and rubs the roll surface to capture foreign matter in the same manner as the first-stage wiper, and the sheet is taken up by a take-up roll 53. These processes can be performed continuously or intermittently. The wiper may be made of a permeable material as a support, so that the inner surface is in a reduced pressure state so that trapped foreign substances do not fall off.
