Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent paper from remaining the traces of a paper feed roller caused by slip between the paper feed roller and the paper during deskewing and to prevent noises caused by rubbing between a conveying roller and a nip portion. SOLUTION: When paper fed is sensed, a conveying roller 4 is rotated in a forward direction by m1 steps to cause the roller to bite into the paper to feed the paper forward by a certain length. A paper feed roller 2 performs resetting action. Next, the paper feed roller and the conveying roller are simultaneously rotated in the reverse direction by n2 steps and m2 steps, respectively. After the paper feed roller stops, the conveying roller is switched to low speed and further rotated in the reverse direction by m3 steps to perform deskewing. After deskewing, the paper feed roller and the conveying roller are simultaneously rotated in the forward direction. The paper feed roller 2 performs resetting action and the conveying roller is rotated in the forward direction by m4 steps to skip a certain length Lo. Thus, traces of slip on the paper do not concentrate but are dispersed and become less conspicuous. Also, the conveying roller is rotated at low speed during deskewing to reduce noises.

2. Description of the Related Art A conventional paper feeding apparatus generally employs a system in which a plurality of sheets stacked on a hopper are fed one by one from a top sheet, and a separation sheet contacting a sheet feeding roller. The pads are arranged in a feeding path, and the sheets are fed one by one using friction between the separation pad and the paper. In a method of feeding sheets one by one from a hopper, so-called skew, which is sent obliquely to a feeding path, is likely to occur. If the paper is fed in a skewed state, paper jams are likely to occur, and printing will not be performed at the expected position of the paper. As a countermeasure, skew is removed before recording. For skew removal, the leading edge of the paper is abutted against the stopped transport roller, and the feed roller is rotated for a short time in that state. The transport roller is engaged, and the transport roller is rotated in reverse with the feed roller stopped. There is a bite-discharge method that discharges the food.

The outline of skew removal by the conventional biting discharge method will be described with reference to FIGS. In FIG. 10, the skew is removed by causing the transport roller 4 to bite the paper P, and then rotating the transport roller 4 in a reverse direction in a state where the paper feed roller 2 is stopped, thereby releasing the bite with the transport roller 4, that is, the paper P To the feed roller side to correct the skew.
The cueing of the sheet P after skew removal is for setting the recording start position for the sheet P, and is performed by controlling the rotation of the transport roller 4. In FIG. 11, when the cueing is started, the number of steps set by the transport roller 4 is rotated forward and the paper P
Is sent for a fixed length Lo. During this time, the paper feed roller 2 rotates synchronously with the transport roller 4, but is in contact with the separation pad 3 as shown in the figure at the time of completion of cueing. In order to make the paper feed roller 2 stand by at the reset position, the paper feed roller 2 is further rotated forward by a certain number of steps until the chord portion 2a of the paper feed roller 2 faces the separation pad 3, as shown in FIG.

The skew removal by the conventional biting discharge method is performed in a state in which the feeding of the sheet is stopped on the sheet feeding roller side. When the paper feed roller 2 rotates to the reset position, a slip occurs between the paper feed roller 2 and the paper, and a roller mark is formed on the paper P. Also, during skew removal, the reverse feed force by the transport rollers is applied to the paper,
This force overcomes the grip force of the paper feed roller 2 on the paper P, causing a slip between the paper feed roller 2 and the paper P, and a roller mark is formed on the paper P. Also, the same phenomenon occurs in cueing after skew removal. In particular, OHP sheets
Since the coefficient of friction μ with the paper feed roller 2 is high, when a slip occurs, roller marks are easily formed on the paper. Further, after the discharge of the paper, friction occurs between the leading edge of the paper and the nip portion of the transport roller, and a sound is generated. The level of the rubbing noise is related to the rotation speed of the transport roller, and tends to increase as the speed increases, and the noise tends to be easily perceived. Therefore, measures to reduce noise have been desired.

During this time, the paper feed roller 2 is rotated forward (step 103), and when the open signal of the phase detector is determined (step 104), the position of the center of the phase detector (reset position) is further increased by n1 steps.
The rotation is made normal to stand by (step 105).

Next, only the transport roller is rotated in the reverse direction by m5 steps (step 106). Subsequently, as shown in FIG. 4, the feed roller 2 is set at n2 steps and the transport roller 4 is set at m.
2 steps are reversed simultaneously (steps 107 and 1
08). As shown in FIG. 5, after the paper feed roller 2 stops, the transport roller 4 is further switched to a low speed to reverse the m3 steps to perform skew removal (step 109). After removing the skew, the feed roller 2 and the transport roller 4 are simultaneously rotated forward as shown in FIG. 6 (steps 110 and 111). When the open signal of the phase detector is determined (step 112), the paper feed roller 2 further rotates forward by n1 steps and waits (step 113) to align the center of the phase detector (reset position). On the other hand, the transport roller 4
Makes m4 steps perform normal rotation, performs cueing of a fixed length Lo, and ends.

In this manner, the skew removal is advanced until the paper feed roller 2 and the transport roller 4 are simultaneously rotated forward and the paper feed roller 2 makes one rotation to reach the reset position. A slip is not caused between the sheet 2 and the sheet P, and a roller mark is prevented from being formed. Further, after the paper feed roller 2 is stopped and the rotation of the transport roller 4 is switched to low speed after the discharge of the paper P due to the reverse rotation of the transport roller, rubbing occurs between the leading edge of the paper and the nip portion of the transport roller. The level of the sound generated by the fitting becomes low, and it becomes hard to feel as noise.

According to the present invention, a slip is generated between the paper feed roller and the paper stopped at the time of skew removal, and the slip occurs due to the movement of the paper. Slip marks that adhere are not concentrated in one place, but are dispersed and less noticeable. Also, by lowering the speed after ejection of the paper, the level of the sound generated by the rubbing between the leading edge of the paper and the nip portion of the transport roller can be reduced, reducing noise and adapting to the usage environment. It is easy to make it.
