Abstract

Composite body consists of a substrate, the surface of which is at least partially covered with a coating including at least one layer of wear resistant metal nitride. This layer consists of a 1-10 microns thick double-layer, the inner layer being of substoichiometric MeNx (x = less than 0.9 and pref. greater than 0.5) and the outer layer being of (nearly) stoichiometric MeNx (x = greater than 0.9 and pref. max. 1.0), in which Me = a gp. III-VI metal.
