Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide cheap hard pinkish outer decoration parts with superior decoration properties by adhering a vanadium nitride film having a nitriding degree of VN0.3-VN0.6 and assuming a pinkish color tone. CONSTITUTION:By varying the nitriding degree of vanadium nitride a nitriding degree region assuming a pinkish color tone is found, and vanadium nitride in the region is adhered onto a corrosion resistant base material for outer decoration parts by ion plating. For example, when a watch case made of austenitic stainless steel is subjected to reactive ion plating with vanadium in N2 gas while varying the nitriding degree, the color tone of the resulting film turns whitish 1, pinkish 2, yellowish 3 and brownish 4 according to the nitriding degree. The nitriding degree of the pinkish film ranges from VN0.3-VN0.6. This film is much cheaper than cloisonne ware or precious stones.
