Abstract
1352040 Pneumatic tyre and wheel rim assemblies ORSZAGOS GUMIIPARI VALLALAT 19 April 1971 [10 April 1970 13 Jan 1971] 26537/71 Heading B7C A pneumatic tyre and wheel rim assembly comprises a tyre having an inner, air impervious layer 1 of elastomer, and a reinforcement 2, comprising at least one parallel cord fabric ply, which covers the inner layer, the cords extending at 70-90 degrees to the mid circumferential plane; and a wheel rim having two annular members 8, radially inwardly extending portions of which are in surface contact, the exterior of the reinforcement 2 being adhesively bonded to the substantially axially extending portions of the members 8 (Figs. 1 and 4), or to annular rings 9 (Fig. 7) which are themselves secured, e.g. by friction, or bolts, to the substantially axially extending portions of the members 8. The cords of the or each fabric ply may be of glass or steel. In the embodiment of Fig. 1, a further reinforcement ply 3 having parallel cords, e.g. of steel or glass extending at an angle of 0-20 degrees to the mid-circumferential plane is provided, with a rubber layer 4 interposed between the reinforcement 2 and the ply 3. Similar rubber is applied to the outer surface of the ply 3 to form the tread 6 and sidewalls 5. Lips 7 terminating the sidewalls are adhesively bonded to the annular members 8. In a modified arrangement (Fig. 2) the lips 7 terminate the rubber layer 4 and the assembly of the tread, sidewalls and embedded reinforcement ply 3 is detachable when the tyre is deflated. The assembly may include a detachable tread band (Fig. 3, not shown). Fig. 4 illustrates an embodiment in which the layer 1 and reinforcement 2 are not tubular, and is this case a sealing ring 10 is provided between the radially inwardly extending portions of the members 8. The embodiment may be modified to provide a removable assembly comprising reinforcement ply 3, and sidewalls 5 plus an integral (Fig. 5, not shown) or detachable tread band (Fig. 6, not shown).
