Abstract

1485485 Pneumatic tyres INDUSTRIE PIRELLI SpA 26 Sept 1974 [28 Sept 1973] 41839/74 Heading B7C In a radial tyre the lower sidewall regions are each reinforced by two annular layers of parallel cord fabric; said layers diverge in the radially outward direction, the cords of the layers make an angle of between 20 and 60 degrees with a circumferential direction, and the cords of one layer cross those of the other. The layers 6, 7 may be formed by folding a single ply 5 (Fig. 1) and in this case may be positioned axially outwardly of the carcass reinforcement turn up 3 or between the turn up and apex strip 4. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 2), the layers 21, 22 are separate and the two layers may be positioned relative to the turn up 23 as specified above or the turn up may be positioned, as illustrated, between the layers. The filler between the layers is a rubber compound of hardness 60-90 degrees Shore, and the apex strip 4 is a rubber compound of hardness 70 degrees Shore. In the Fig. 2 embodiment, the cords of the axially outer layer may have a larger cord angle. The layer 21 may have metal cords while the layer 22 has textile cords. [GB1485485A]
