Abstract

For preparation of road-building concrete, cement is mixed with suitably prepared waste/hazardous waste (as power-station slag-flyash, milled to required size). Mixtures also contain STABIMIENT (2) air porosity generating agent, CAF01 (3) and CAF02 (4) special liquid additives (at 0.2 L/cu m; 1:1 ratio total dose) and filte-flyash (7). Mixing ratios both for cement (5) and filter-fly ash (6) are selected to be between lower and upper limiting values of 100-350 kg/cum respectively. Free selection of mixing ratio values between the given limits, allows for development of ideal compositions and consistency, as determined by practical tests. Dry formulations, that fall between limiting ratio-values given, (5) and (6), take up 120-200 L/cum water to reach required consistencies. Mixing and working the mix is carried out with in place agitator systems and characteristically, with application of a smoothing beam finisher. Having carried out road-building tests and a thorough comparison with materials in present use, it became evident, that the outlined structural flyash concrete satisfies national and international road-building criteria and standards. Building road-ways with using this product is much more economical and is structurally stronger than flyash concrete compositions also falling in the CKt-C4 category. This concrete does not contain gritty components (sand, gravel, ballast etc.). Roads laid and worked using this concrete can be asphalt-coated within 24 hrs with the aid of a beam-finisher. This concrete has a bulk-density of 1.2-1.06 t/cum in contrast with conventional concrete at 2.5 t/cum. Additives prevent, leaching out environmentally damaging substances present in waste or hazardous waste materials. Their effect is due to molecular level attachment to these materials.
