Abstract

This invention proposes a method and mechanism for isothermal air compression. Air is mixed with micro-diametric droplets and then compressed. During compression, the droplets evaporate, resulting in a significantly lower final temperature from that which would be achieved by compression in a simple adiabatic compressor. Compression realised by this method has a significant isothermal constituent, with required energy markedly lower than that required by an adiabatic compressor at corresponding compression pressures. Using an alternator system and air desiccator, water evaporated during the compression is condensed (liquefied) and pressurised air is attained, having an absolute humidity equal to the compressor's intake humidity. This invention, finds further application to that of compressors, in the general application and realisation of an efficient thermodynamic refrigeration or heating cycle (heat pump). This thermodynamic cycle is achieved by combination of the described invention with an expander. Diagram of this invention: fig. 1.
