Abstract

The proposed system refers to an automated representation system which, with the same hardware and software, provides the ability of selective, representation to different spectral regions from the near ultraviolet to the near infrared. Furthermore, it involves a special calibration procedure for the standardisation of the representation procedure and the quantification of the optical information. The system is based on a CCD camera CCD (1) with a sensitivity in the spectral region between 300 nmm to 1050 nm whereas for the representation of wavelengths outside this region representation photon converters (6,7) are used which convert these photons to photons within the sensitivity region, thus extending the sensitivity limits of the system. For the selection of the spectral region of representaion, different filters (3) are used, the interchange of which is electronically controlled (4). The video signal of the camera is digitalised by an electronic unit built into the electronic processor and processing information in real time.
