A rotary-piston I.C. engine of the trochoidal n and n+ 1 lobe type comprises an eccentric 1 carrying a piston 3 whose planetary motion is controlled by a gear system including an internally-toothed gear-wheel 4 integral with the piston, at least one integral pair of planet gearwheels 7 which is rotatably mounted on a spindle 8 fixed to the eccentric and an internallytoothed gear-wheel 6 attached to the engine housing, wheels 7 having different sizes, as shown. Alternatively, the gear system includes externally-toothed gear-wheels (Fig. 2, not shown) in place of wheels 4, 6.
