Abstract

996,785. Hydraulically operated grab-buckets. YUMBO. July 26, 1963 [Aug. 28, 1962], No. 29726/63. Heading B8H. The shells 4a, 4b, Fig. 1, of a grab-bucket are pivoted at 5a, 5b to the ends of frame members 2a, 2b, Fig. 2, and are opened and closed by a cylinder 7, which slides up and down on a fixed piston 8, and is connected to the shells by pivoted links 14a, 14b. The cylinder 7 carries guide rollers 15a, 15b which run on ribs 16a, 16b, alternatively shoes or sliders may replace the rollers. A cross-member 3 of the members 2a, 2b is adjustably clamped between friction discs to prevent rotation of the grab about a vertical axis when the hydraulic fluid is under pressure.
