996,622. Endless conveyers. DIAMOND NATIONAL CORPORATION. Dec. 28, 1961, No. 46472/61. Heading B8A. Some articles, such as cartons (not shown), are diverted from a conveyer belt 10 to a shoot 32 while other articles continue to another conveyer belt 31. The articles are carried by belt 10 until they reach a stop 11 which, as well as stop 12, retains its blocking position for an interval determined by cams 13 which position follower arms 15 to operate links 16, 17 to rotate rods 18, 19. Back bar 20 of stop 11 blocks further articles so that stop 11 releases articles singly. Stops 11, 12 have a timed relationship. Synchronously driven with cam-shaft 14 by rod 21 is a pair of spaced chains 28 with parallel belts 33, 34 attached thereto. Belts 33, 34 are of any material sufficiently flexible to pass round sprockets 27, 30 with chains 28 but rigid enough to support an article. The timing of belt 10 and chains 28 is such that the articles continue along belt 10 either on to belts 33, 34 and so on to further conveyer belt 31 or fall into the shoot 32.
