Abstract

995,722. Making moulds. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. April 17, 1964, No. 16104/64. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B3] A shell mould 10 is formed, e.g. by dipping, on a wax pattern 13 formed on the head 14 of a handle 15 made of electrically conducting material. To remove the handle a heating coil 22 is located round the shell mould and is supplied with alternating current at a frequency of 10-450 kilocycles per second so that the head 14 is heated 14 and melts the immediately surrounding wax allowing the handle to fall from or be removed from the mould. The method could be used to remove an electrically conductive member from non-conductive material in which it is embedded.
