Abstract

1,180,199. Cutting plastics blocks. LUXIT S.A. 11 Nov., 1968 [23 Nov., 1967], No. 53439/68. Heading B5A. A block of plastics material is cut into sections by electrically heated cutting elements mounted in a frame in the required configuration. As shown, the frame 1 carries two insulated bars 8, 9. Cutting blades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are mounted on the bars 8 and 9 and are joined by wires 10, 11, 12, 13. The blades and wires are electrically heated by current supplied thereto from plugs 16, 17 and conductive devices 14, 15 attached to the blades. Perforations 18 in the frame permit cooling air to be blown on to the plastics block from pipe 19. The frame 1 is preferably mounted so that the plastics block can be passed through it for cutting and is preferably releasably mounted so that it can be exchanged for a frame of different cutting configuration.
