Abstract

Articles consisting of or coated with palladium are pretinned by first wetting the surface with a halogen free alkaline solution of an organic reducing agent having a pH of 9-10 and then dipping into a metal melt such as an alloy of 60% Sn 40% Pb at a temperature of 220-450 DEG C. The alkaline alcoholic solution may be a solution of pyrogallol and ammonia in ethanol.
