994,240. Magnetic compositions. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 22, 1963 [May 25, 1962], No. 20383/63. Heading H1H. A ferromagnetic ferrite core having a square hysteresis loop and consisting in a sintered body formed from the following constituents: 2À5 to 16À4 % mol. of Li 2 O; 0À3 to 68 % mol. of MnO; 32 to 82 % mol. of Fe 2 O 3 ; 0 to 14 % mol. of NiO, is produced by grinding the oxides or oxide-yielding compounds, presintering at a temperature below 800‹ C. regrinding, adding an organic binder, pressing into shape under 1À5 tons/cm.<SP>2</SP>, and sintering at between 1200‹ and 1400‹ C. in a moisture-free atmosphere of air or oxygen-enriched air. Cooling may take place quickly or slowly to a temperature 100-600‹ C. lower than the sintering temperature. The body may be held at this temperature and then quenched. Various examples with their heating schedules are disclosed.
