Abstract

Coloured sodium alumino silicate of surface area larger than 20 sq. metres per gram with a particle size less than 0.14 micron diameter, is obtained by mixing dilute aqueous solutions of alkali metal silicate and soluble aluminium salts to yield the sodium alumino silicate which is then slurried with a solution of water-soluble acid or boric organic dyes. The product is filtered, dried and pulverized. Silicates with molar ratios of above 0.8 mols. of Na2O per mol of Al2O3 and over 4 mols of SiO2 per mol. of Na2O, a specific gravity of 2.10-2.26 are specified. Sodium silicate and aluminium sulphate, chloride, nitrate, or ammo-nium alum are employed in the alumino silicate production, also aluminium silicate in the form of kaolin isused. Specification 753,052 is referred to.ALSO:A pigment comprising sodium alumino silicate having a surface area larger than 20 square meters per gram with a particle size less than 0.14 micron in diameter and dyed with a water-soluble basic or acid dye is incorporated into rubber and plastic compositions. A rubber composition containing GRS-1502 rubber and dyed sodium aluminosilicate is compared with a rubber composition containing a dry mixture of dye and sodium aluminosilicate. Plastic compositions referred to are polyethylene, polystyrene and polyvinyl chloride. Specification 753,052 is referred to.ALSO:A pigment comprising sodium alumino silicate having a surface area larger than 20 square metres per gram with a particle size less than 0.14 micron in diameter and dyed with a water soluble basic or acid dye is incorporated into a printing ink composition. The ink compositions comprise the following ingredients, coloured pigment, linseed varnish, cobalt linoleate drier, soft wax compound. In further examples lead manganese linoleate drier, cobalt octoate drier and alumina hydrate are also employed. Specification 753,052 is referred to.
