Abstract

991,334. Supply fittings for baths and basins. JAMES BARWELL Ltd. Sept. 25, 1963 [Sept. 11, 1962; Jan. 1, 1963; May 3, 1963], Nos. 34620/62, 176/63 and 17509/63. Heading A4N. [Also in Division F2] A water mixing unit comprising a body 30 having hot and cold water inlets 31, 32 and a pair of valves 38, 39 controlling the respective flows, is characterized in that the inlets are formed as a single inlet pipe 37 which has a dividing web or partition and is connected to the body of the unit adjacent one end thereof and the valves are mounted on the body adjacent the said one end. As shown, the bath or wash basin unit has a central discharge spout and a second outlet 35 for connection to a sprinkler or shower, these outlets being controlled by a changeover valve 43, 46 up to which the hot and cold passages extend. The body may comprise a central part and two side parts each of which can be fitted to either side of the central part. The changeover valve may be replaced by a known hydrostatic valve such that when the inlet valves are open and an additional valve controlling the shower or sprinkler is also open, then water is discharged through the shower or sprinkler, and on closing the additional valve, water is discharged through the discharge spout as a result of automatic operation of the hydrostatic valve.
