Abstract

[Also in Division H2] A device 11 for gripping a steelcored aluminium or copper conductor 12 so that it may be pulled when erecting or re-stringing a line comprises body 26 containing two sets of jaws 28 having outsides of conical form which co-operate with conical surfaces formed inside the body and which are biased apart by spring 33. The sets of jaws have internal teeth 31 for gripping the steel core 13 of the conductor and the pulling rope 17, respectively. One end of a wire mesh stocking-type grip 42 lies in grooves 36 on the outside of body 26 and is secured by compression sleeve 46. The other end of the stocking- type grip surrounds the outside of conductor 12, upon which it contracts and tightens when the device is pulled.
