Abstract
988,223. Dynamometers. ROTAX Ltd. Sept. 28, 1961 [July 11, 1960], No. 24072/60. Heading G1W. In an eddy-current dynamometer of the swing- ing-carrier type, the rotor 9 (of iron) is hollow and has a central baffle 13. Cooling liquid enters via a port 17 and tube 12 on one side of the baffle 13 and leaves on the other side via a tubular spindle 11 concentric with tube 12 and outlet 18. The tubes and the rotor driving shaft 10 pass through hollow trunnions 4 of the swinging frame 3 which has magnets 8 secured to it in diametrically opposed positions. The frame 3 is loaded by means of a single arm 6 connected to a spring, or other resistive means, and an indicator 7.
