Abstract

A stabilized self-propelling aerosol composition for use in a pressure-tight container comprises active ingredient, liquefied gaseous propellant, and colloidal silica of a particle size below 0.03 micron present in amount sufficient to render the composition a substantially homogeneous mobile gel. The active ingredient may be an anti-perspirant in powder form, e.g. aluminium hydroxychloride, sulphate, chloride or sulphocarbonate, or zinc sulphocarbolate, a deodorant such as hexachlorophene, a medicament such as zinc stearate or zinc undecylenate, or talc, kaolin or finely divided pigments, or an emulsion, e.g. a shaving cream based on triethanolamine stearate. Suitable propellants include hydrocarbons and fluoro-chlorohydrocarbons and may be diluted with less volatile chlorinated hydrocarbons.
