A resilient bracing member for a structural framework of a building subject to movements, e.g. due to subsidence, comprises a rod 11, 12 which is connected to a tube 10 by a compression spring 19 having end washers 13, 17 constrained between a shoulder 21 on the tube 10 and an abutment nut 23 screwed into the upper end of the tube 10 to the rod 11, 12 having a narrower portion 11 which passes freely through apertures in washers 14, 17 and a shoulder 13 and a nut 15 which engage respectively the outer faces of the washers 13, 17. A generally similar arrangement, Fig. 3, not shown, employs two compression springs arranged in series. In a modification, Fig. 2, one part of the bracing member comprises two rods 26 connected together at their upper ends by an axiallyadjustable tie plate 28 having a shackle connection 30 tubular members 34, 34, axially located by nuts 35 on the rods 26, and nuts 38 on the lower ends of the rods 26 providing abutments respectively for upper and lower abutment plates 36, 37. The latter are slidably mounted on the rods 26 and have compression springs 40, 40 mounted between them. The second part of the bracing member comprises a third rod 41 which extends slidably through apertures in the plates 36, 37 and has a shackle connection 42 a a nut 45 with a sleeve 44 and a shoulder on the rod 41 providing abutments for the plates 36, 37 respectively.
