Abstract

984,273. Tunnels. COLIN SWALLOW (MINING) Ltd. Dec. 12, 1961 [Sept. 12, 1960], No. 31412/60. Heading E1F. Blocks 1a, 1b, 1c for forming a tunnel support network comprising left and right hand helices, comprise hemispherical end members 2, 2a, 2b, 2c and hemispherical recesses 3 in the sides, each of the end members of one block being adapted to mate with a recess in an adjacent block when erected in the support. The blocks are of concrete and pressure pads are inserted in the recesses either during casting of the blocks or erection of the lining.
