Abstract
1438641 Tunnels &c CHARCON TUNNELS Ltd 11 June 1973 [9 June 1972] 27120/ 72 Heading E1F An arcuate tunnel lining segment comprises a plurality of blocks 11 secured together, one face 12 of each block being convex and the opposite face 13 being concave, the concave face being of greater diameter than the convex face. The faces 12 and 13 preferably abut over a central portion equal to half the block thickness. The blocks which are preferably of concrete are secured together by an epoxy resin adhesive, and have two circumferentially extending bores 14 to receive tie members (not shown) for securing adjacent segments. A lining ring constructed of the segments is completed with a key segment (25), Fig. 3 (not shown), of U-shaped crosssection and having the required concave and convex abutting surfaces (29, 30). The abutting surfaces may be such as to extend in a helical manner about the tunnel lining axis.
