983,319. Securing railway rails. H. MEIER. May 28, 1962 [May 27, 1961], No. 20459/62. Heading E1G. A rail anchorage comprises a steel bearing plate 2 adhesively secured in a concrete sleeper 1 and having ribs 8 and 9 against which bear the rail base 3 and the end 10 of a clamping member 17 respectively. The other end 18 of the clamping member engages the rail base 3. The member 17 is pressed downwardly by screwing a nut 15 on a bolt 12 adhesively secured in the sleeper and passing through the plate 2 and member 17. In an alternative embodiment (not shown) the rib 8 is omitted and the clamping member has a rounded nose engaging over the rail base.
