[Also in Division H2] A land vehicle comprises an internal combustion or rotary piston engine 1, Fig. 1, coupled to an electric motor-generator 2 which is connected to an electric accumulator 5, all accommodated in a common housing 4, and means for selectively deriving the power either direct from the engine or from the motor-generator driven by the accumulator or both. The accumulator plates may be curved or arranged obliquely to the housing axis and the housing may be of circular, oval or elliptical cross-section. When operated by the engine 1, generator G, Fig. 6, charges accumulator 5, and switch S is operated to pass current from the accumulator 5 to drive motor M.
