[Also in Division B8] A roller 1 for a belt conveyer, or a pulley, is mounted fast upon a hollow shaft 5 surrounding a beam 7 and journalled thereon by a pair of coacting ball bearing races 10, 11 or by a pair of similar bearing means, a hollow cup 13 secured on the end of the beam carrying the stationary race 11 so that it surrounds the rotating race 10 and the hollow shaft. Lubricant can pass through a space 15 between the shaft and the beam to the bearing, and is retained therein by a packing 23. A shield 25 may be mounted around the cup 13.
