Abstract
981,807. Making electrical resistances. JOHNSON MATTHEY & CO. Ltd. Oct. 17, 1963 [Nov. 16, 1962], No. 43421/62. Drawings to Specification. Heading B3A. [Also in Divisions H1 and H5] A resistance wire for a high temperature heater or an element of a thermocouple has a ceramic core. The wire is manufactured from a 3/8-inch O.D. tube of 10% rhodium-platinum alloy and having an 1/8-inch bore filled with dried powdered alumina under pressure. The ends of the tube are sealed, and it is rolled to -inch square and drawn into a wire of 0.020 diameter.
