981,470. Photographic silver halide emulsions. AGFA A. G. Aug. 2, 1963 [Aug. 4,1962], No. 30747/63. Heading G2C. A photographic silver halide emulsion containing a polyalkylene oxide sensitizer of molecular weight at least 1500 and an aza-indine stabilizer in which at least one N-atom is in the sixmembered ring, contains an aromatic hydroxy compound as an additional stabilizer. Aromatic hydroxy compounds specified are α-naphthol, 1; 5- and 2; 7-dihydroxynaphthalene, pyrocatechol, hydroquinone, resorcinol and phloroglucinol. Specified aza-indenes are 1, 3a, 7- and 3, 3a, 7-triazaindenes, 1, 3, 3a, 7-tetrazaindenes and 1, 2, 3, 4, 6- and 1, 2, 3, 3a, 7-pentazaindenes. The polyalkylene oxide may be a polyethylene oxide or the ethyl or oleyl ether thereof. Specifications 836,089, 836,302 and 842,062 are referred to.
