Abstract

980,152. Moulding containers. FMC CORPORATION. May 23, 1963 [Aug. 3, 1962], No. 20661/63. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B8] A container is made and filled with liquid simultaneously in a mould, by liquid passing through a three-way valve 22, and then through a nozzle 21 to expand a closed mass of plastics material 25 to the shape of a hinged mould 26, additional plastics material being admitted through a conduit 24 to a concentric device 23 and hence to the inside of the mould. When the liquid reaches the level of the top of the neck of the container the valve shuts off the liquid and admits air or gas under pressure to complete the filling of the mould. The top of the container is sealed by a pair of plates pinching the plastics material and also providing another closed mass of plastics material for use in moulding a further container. The plastics material sets to form a resilient structure.
