979,653. Automatic frequency control systems. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGSGESELLSCHAFT. July 1, 1963 [June 29, 1962], No. 25958/63. Drawings to Specification. Heading H3A. A television receiver self-oscillating mixer is frequency controlled by a capacity diode in the oscillator tuned circuit and the AFC output from a frequency discriminator is non-linearly amplified before applying it to the diode so that the diode's capacity variations are more linearly related to the AFC voltage. To this end the AFC voltage is applied to the grid of a back-biased cathode follower of low anode voltage operating at the bottom part of its anode current/control voltage characteristic to produce a correspondingly much greater output for one polarity of the AFC voltage than for the other, and compensating the converse capacity variations of the diode with voltage.
