An oscillator comprises the first two grids and cathode of a tube and from across an anode output resistor 20 a voltage is fed back through a capacitor 21 to one side of the tuned circuit 2, 22 to produce a phase quadrature component of feedback to the first grid of magnitude determined by a voltage UR applied to another grid, controlling the oscillator frequency. The circuit further ensures that increase of feedback increases the damping of the oscillator and therefore the control sensitivity. The input UR may be derived from a phase discriminator fed with incoming sync and television receiver line flyback pulses so that the frequency and phase of the line scan sawtooth waves produced by a triode 9 from the oscillations may be stabilized.
