Abstract

Compounds of the formula <FORM:0979556/C1/1> where R is hydrogen, alkyl or alkenyl, are prepared by refluxing, in the presence of a basic catalyst such as CH3OK, an alcoholic solution of a compound RNH.C(=NH).NHCN with cyanogen chloride, cooling and acidifying. An example prepares the compound in which R is ethyl; in other specified products R is propenyl and butenyl. Some of the products have a herbicidal effect.
