Abstract

979,029. Venting stoppers. UNILEVER Ltd. March 22, 1962 [March 24, 1961], No. 10970/62. Heading B8T. To prevent distortion of or leakage from flexible-walled plastics containers for liquids due to changes of pressure &c., a venting groove 18 having a depth of from 0.002 to 0.005 inches is provided between the container 10 and its closure member 12. As shown, the container, e.g. for detergent, has a threaded neck 11 closed by a cap 12 with a central plug 16 engaging the pouring opening. The venting grooves 18 extend up the plug 16 and across the annular lip 17 to open into the spaces between the screw threads. The grooves may extend spirally around the plug 16. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 927,095.
