Abstract
978,711. Haymaking machines. C. VAN DER LELY N.V. April 7, 1961 [May 6, 1960], No. 12577/61. Heading A1F. The frame of a rotary haymaking machine is constructed of resilient rods or strips to enable the rotary elements to move vertically on encountering ground irregularities. As shown, the device has rake-wheels 2-5 having axles 44-47 which are received in sleeves 48-51 clamped to a main beam 6. The beam 6 is in the form of a leaf-spring of which the lower leaves 7, 8 are longer than the upper leaves 9, 10, and support the outer sleeves 48, 51. The leaves are clamped together by two mirrorimage members 11, 12 which have integral forwardly-extending parts 16, 17 to receive the ends of further leaf-springs 18, 19 which are clamped at their outer ends by a member 28 which includes connections for the hitch-links 40, 41, 42 of a tractor 43. The leaf-springs 18, 19 are each double, the leaves being vertically spaced from one another. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown), the leaves are replaced by sets of resilient rods.
