Abstract

977,095. Railway vehicle bogies. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG - NURNBERG A.G. Nov. 23, 1962 [Dec. 23, 1961], No. 44340/62. Heading B7L. A bogie frame 4 is supported from axle boxes 3 by springs 5, the boxes being rigid with a rigid arm 6 pivoted at 7 to the frame 4 with an interposed rubber bush, abutments 8, 9 preventing sliding of arm 6 on the pin. A pin 11, Fig. 3, on frame 4 projects into a casing 10 on each box 3 with the interposition of rubber springs 12 which deform vertically and longitudinally of the frame by shear and transversely by compression. The springs 12 and rubber bushes are matched with the lever arms of arms 6 and box 10 so that wheel set movements are confined to ones along the axis of rotation of the set and ones perpendicular to frame 4. Cradles 13 suspended by arms 30 from frame 4 each carrying two springs 14 supporting a slipper plate 15, an hydraulic shock-absorber 16 being inserted between plate 15 and cradle 13; guides 17 guide plates 15 in frame 4. A vehicle body bears through two rows of balls 21, Fig. 4, in an oil bath, on the slipper plate 15. A slipper block on the vehicle body may alternatively slide in a recess in plates 15, Fig. 6 (not shown), The ball-bearings and block are curved with the centre of curvature at King-pin 22. The King-pin takes no vertical load and is connected by member 23 and rods 24, 25 to the bogie frame, the member 23 being approximately at the centre of gravity of the bogie; shock absorbers 26, 27 take up tranverse forces. Leaf-spring control arms may be provided instead of arms 6 and casings 10, Fig. 5 (not shown).
