976,985. Advancing mine roof supports. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. May 3, 1961 [May 10, 1960], No. 16423/60. Heading E1E. An advancing mine roof support comprises two parallel groups of superimposed wheels 8 carried by a framework 3, 4, 5 and an endless belt 10 encircling the tyres mounted on one of the groups of wheels. In the particular embodiment disclosed each group of wheels consists of nine wheels uniformly mounted on three parallel axles 6, the uppermost group being vertically adjustable in the framework which is slotted at 9 accordingly. The support is also provided with a canopy 11, 14 adapted to be pneumatically advanced by jacks 17 acting on a linkage 15, 16, 18. Belt tensioning means are also provided.
