976,942. Pneumatic despatch apparatus. SAMSON ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. July 12, 1963 [April 12, 1962], No. 14132/62. Heading B8A. In a pneumatic tube ring system 1, Fig. 1, having a plurality of receiving stations 3 to which the carriers are selectively directed by diverter flap device 5, the flaps are normally disposed in the position for diversion of the carriers to the receiving stations 3 and are operated selectively to retain the carrier in the ring system until it reaches the required station. The arrangement ensures the immediate ejection of carriers in the event of a failure of the selective signalling system and prevents continuous orbiting. Movement of the flaps is controlled from sensing stations 8 at which all but one selected brush contact are connected to the flap control circuit 12. The flaps are thereby caused to operate and retain the carrier in the ring circuit at all stations except the selected delivering station. The systems may incorporate a pressure sensitive device 16 which operates switches to prevent the insertion of carriers when the system is overloaded. Specification 955,737 is referred to.
